DraftKings and BetBlocker Announce Responsible Gambling Partnership

In an effort to raise awareness of and access to self-exclusion software, sports betting operator DraftKings has established a partnership with BetBlocker, a responsible gaming non-profit.

Responsible Gambling Partnership

Customers can restrict their gambling activities across all their devices using the software, which works with thousands of gaming sites in every location, regardless of whether or not the sites or their operators are regulated.

Chrissy Thurmond, DraftKings’ senior director of responsible gaming called BetBlocker's efforts to safer play "commendable," and the company is glad to collaborate with this "enthusiastic and innovative" not-for-profit that "is pushing responsible gaming in a comprehensive and consumer-friendly approach."

BetBlocker's objective is that technology and innovation are crucial to fostering safer play. "We warmly welcome BetBlocker as they develop their footprint in North America, following tremendous success across the pond."

No Personal Information Collected

BetBlocker claims that the free tool does not collect personal information and allows users to download it anonymously. As a result, consumers can select the length and scope of the limits they want to implement, from days to years, and even include calendar-blocking features.

"With the backing of sports betting and gaming industry behemoth DraftKings, BetBlocker is pleased to extend our product outside of the UK and Europe to gamers in the United States and Canada," says Pedro Romero, BetBlocker's chief of safer gambling partnerships.

"In our efforts to raise awareness of safer play technology, we are appreciative of DraftKings' cooperation and financial support. "We have been impressed with DraftKings' leadership in responsible gaming".

In order to guarantee that all players have the knowledge and tools they need to wager safely, "we encourage other operators to follow DraftKings' lead and go above and beyond what is required in each country".

Through its State Council Funding Program, DraftKings provides financial assistance to state councils and affiliates of the National Council on Problem Gambling in the United States. The company's sports betting and iGaming services were launched in Ontario in May.
