Slot Features
This is a quest-based adventure slot where hunters will attack the beast as soon as it hits the reels leading to a number of exciting slot features.
Free Spins
You can enjoy three different free spins features which are ‘Regular’, ‘Slayer’ and ‘Hunter’ and the last options are collectable. Each of the three modes involves spine-tingling bonus features as you increase your wins with expanding wilds and grow in strength to attack the Werewolf.
You need to land the bonus symbols on reels 1 & 5 in the base game and this will award 10 free spins. Hunters have a higher chance of winning their fight in free spins.
Hunter Upgrades
You can power up the Hunters by collecting 3 of their bonus symbols during free spins. This can award you with +2 free spins and expanding wilds.
Werewolf Symbol
A random Hunter attacks each Werewolf symbol that lands. If you win the fight it’ll transform the Werewolf into a Wild and reduces its health and increases the Hunters Rage.
Wild Symbol and Respins
The wild symbols substitute all regular symbols and can award the respin feature. Land any number of Wilds and you’ll be rewarded with 1 respin with all wilds remaining on the reels as sticky. Land consecutive Wilds during respins and this will award you with more respins.
Summary
The game has an amazing ambience and together with its theme, sound effects and animations you’ll enjoy edge of your seat excitement. Each spin can bring you closer to extra bonus features and big wins, so you should definitely give this game a shot.
"Wolf Hunters" is one of the latest outings in slot provider Yggdrasil's infamous "investment games", in the sense that you have to get 100 werewolf kills to unlock the so-called "Hunter Spins" and a whopping 600 kills to unlock the feature dramatically coined "Slayer Spins". The latter are very similar to the "Ragnarok Free Spins" of "Vikings Go Berzerk" from same provider.
The good news is that you don't really need these features to play the game in a satisfying manner; I have personally had many regular free spins and other nice hits, primarily on the wild accumulating respins, that have paid a lot better than both "Hunter Spins" and "Slayer Spins", for me at least.
My biggest win on "Wolf Hunters", around 210x, came from a normal bonus, where I was lucky to upgrade both hunters. And I reckon this is about the game's potential, although you can in theory hit 500x per spin, which requires a full screen of wilds/werewolves. So we're talking low to medium volatility here - this one is probably not going to make you rich, but it won't rob you either.
To elaborate a bit on the game mechanics, "Wolf Hunters" grants you a respin each time a new wild appears on the reels. Wilds occur either when one of the hunters kill a werewolf - in a very dramatic fashion, I might add - or when a wild appears in a more traditional way. It's all very similar to the NETENT slot "Creature From The Black Lagoon". During the free spins, you can upgrade your hunters, so they turn into expanding wilds, when killing a werewolf. Again, this seems very "CFTBL-esque".
I do like the gameplay of this slot, and unlike "Vikings Go Berzerk", where you can literally feel the RTP plummeting when approaching the "Berzerk Free Spins", this game seems less contrived.
However, you will probably be shouting a lot at the two hunters, when they miss their target during a very promising (profitable) setup. I know I have been yelling "Goddamnit man! Aim and shoot!" on several occations lately.
The paytable is a bit on the low side, as a full line of wilds/werewolves only pays 25x.
