Wizard of Odds is a video slot game from Novomatic. I prefer this game to others because it offers couple of special features. I never feel bored because every time I manage to trigger a different feature. I can only feel annoyed at times when it is impossible to trigger them.

Wizard of Odds is a 5 reels and 20 pay lines video slot game. I play this game from time to time because I always manage to land some good wins. The highest amount that I have won 1000 coins playing this slot is for landing 5 wizard symbols on an active pay line. But I must say this happened only once. Most of the time it is possible to land 5 of a kind wins but from the lower paying symbols though.

There are 4 bonus features in the Wizard of Odds video slot game and they are Wizard`s Hat Free spins, Spell Book Bonus, Cauldron Bonus and the Progressive Jackpot. Most of the times I was managing to trigger the free spins bonus though. the wizard`s hat is the symbol that triggers the free spins and it appears only on the second, fourth and the fifth reel. The highest amount that I have won in this feature was 200 x bet. Most of the times the wins were smaller though and they were somewhere between 20 x bet and 50 x bet. The other feature that is very easy to trigger in this game is the Spell Book Bonus. There is a book symbol that appears on the third reel and awards with random prize. This symbol appears quite often, which means the wins are not that big.

I did not manage to trigger the other 2 bonus features even though I have played this game couple of times though. I would certainly recommend this slot to anyone just because of its diversity and a nice game play.

There are currently quite a good number of Wizard-themed games around, from different game providers, but not one has really caught my interest as yet so far. Even Merlin's games couldn't attract me enough to play them regularly. This Wizard of Odds is yet another variety. There's a 30-paylines version by SkillOnNet and there's also a 20-paylines version from Novomatic. I'm not very interested in SkillOnNet games, have never won on any of them, so it'll be Novomatic's version for me.

Novomatic games have yet to catch up with the current trend of beautiful graphics with 3D renditions, but beautiful graphics don't guarantee a good game. They are merely for visual pleasure and appreciation, but visual appreciation of any game does attract a lot of new players to try them out. So perhaps Novomatic should start catching up with the latest trend to attract more players.This Wizard Of Odds game isn't bad looking at all, it has good graphics nonetheless, but not astonishing. The Orb, or Crystal Ball, is the Wild symbol, 5 of which pays 500x the total bet, which is okay, but unfortunately, it is also a dumb symbol, that only substitutes for other symbols except for the Scatter symbols. The Wizard's Hat is the Scatter symbol, appearing only on reels 2, 4 and 5, and is even more dumb than the Wild symbol, because it doesn't even pay for itself. Damn! That's two very important symbols that cannot perform at their best, thereby providing much lesser chances for wins. The logo, 'Wizard of Odds', pays 75x, the Wizard pays 50x and the others paying from 25x to 1.25x, all per total bet for 5 of each kind. A very low paytable.

Whenever the 3 Hat Scatter symbols appear on the reels, pick one Hat to reveal the number of free spins, then one more Hat to reveal the win multiplier. Don't really know the maximum number of free spins that can be awarded, because all I ever got were 8 free spins, with 1x up to 6x multipliers. Too little to bring in nice wins, and too little to provide satisfying enjoyment too. In the base game, a Spellbook may appear on reel 3, awarding a Spellbook Bonus feature, which pays a random cash award of up to 22x the total bet. Getting 3 Cauldron Bonus symbols award a Cauldron Bonus game, whereby you pick coloured potions until the brew is completed. Up to 100x the total bet amount can be won. If the cauldron explodes, the Progressive Jackpot prize is awarded.

In the base game, getting 2 Hat Scatter symbols on reels 2 and 4 may randomly trigger a 'Rewind' feature, whereby reel 5 is nudged back until the third Hat appears. Don't know if this works for the Cauldron Bonus symbol too, because I've never got that. I did get this 'rewind' feature for the third Hat symbol a few times so far, thereby triggering the Free Spins game.

From my several plays on this Wizard Of Odds game, the Spellbook features paid up to 10x my total bet amount, the Free Spins game paid less than 20x my total bet amount, but the Cauldron Bonus games paid well, from 10x up to 65x the total bet. These wins do not indicate the maximum wins possible, they only reflect what I have won so far, and that's not a lot. I blame all these on the very low paytable.

Wizard of odds is probably one of the best video slot games offered by Novamatic. Unlike most of the other games coming from this software provider the graphic with this game is pretty good. It is good but it’s still far away from the slot games made in Playtech or Microgaming.

The sound effects with this game are also not so bad. I will also add that this game has a few bonus features which is uncommon for Novamatic software. For a theme this game has the children movies with the same name. Unfortunately I had a chance to try this game out for only half an hour of play.

I will also add that the number of paylines for this game here at AskGamblers is wrong. This game has 20 not 30 paylines like it says here. During my play the balance didn’t change a lot but I enjoyed playing. Only after a few spins in the game I got 3 scatter wizard symbols and the free spins bonus. This bonus starts as a pick up bonus. You need to click on one of the scatter symbols, behind which is a number of free spins. After that you need to click on the scatter symbol to reveal the number of the multiplier of the wins during the free spins. What I don’t like in this game is that after every win in the free spins you have to click on the tab collect or gamble to continue the free spins. I think that this is unnecessary and contributes to making this game slow. When I read the paytable I saw that The Wizard of Odds offers two more bonus features. Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to win them for the short time I spent on this game. I can’t describe them after this short experience but I really like the game and I recommend it to everyone.
