Starlight Christmas Slot Pragmatic Play

Starlight Christmas or shall I say Starlight Princess? Or maybe Gates of Olympus? Whichever way you put it, if you're familiar with Gates of Olympus or its Asian version slot Starlight Princess, you'll notice right away that Starlight Christmas is a slot with the same exact mechanic. The only thing that's different from Starlight Christmas and Starlight Princess is the fact that Starlight Christmas is a Christmas themed slot.

The game is one of the newest slots from Pragmatic Play and it was released only in December. I'll be honest, most of the time I'm not a fan of Christmas themed slots, just because they're seasonal and usually a reskin of an already existing game, and Starlight Christmas is no exception. But having said that, similar as with Sweet Bonanza Xmas, I like the game design, it's winter looking yet still subtle.

When it comes to the mechanics of the game, they're the same as it's predecessors. In the game, you need to have at least 8 matching symbols on the reels, no matter on which reels but at least a cluster of 8. Then the winning symbols cascade and new ones come in place. In the base game, the only way to have a  big win is by getting a cluster win accompanied by a multiplier. In the game there are no wild symbols, but you can land different multipliers. Unfortunately so far I haven't yet had any big wins from the base game alone.

Then of course there's the free spins bonus round, triggered by 4 or more scatter symbols or purchased by 100x your bet size cost. In the free spins, you get to play 15 free spins and ultimately, they're the same as the base game. However, if you land a win with a multiplier, the multiplier will remain in the free spins, and if you land a new win with another multiplier, the multipliers will be summed up and added to your spin win. The goal of course is to get the high value multipliers- 100x, 250x and 500x accompanied by a win. However, I've played this game many times and the best multiplier I've achieved was 25x, unfortunately mostly with dead spins followed afterwards. But this game is certainly volatile and while it can pay big when you land multipliers in a win, it can also easily pay anywhere between 10x-30x.

Overall it's a nice game. However, when I first saw this game, I was hoping it would have some extra features, aside from being a Christmas themed version of Starlight Princess. The features are good, but as I mentioned, it's a volatile game and in my experience so far, it's difficult to get the big multipliers, or if you land them, they might end up being on a non winning spin, which is very frustrating. But all in all, if you do enjoy Starlight Princess or Gates of Olympus, this game is a good fit for you.
