Secret of Dead Slot

Secret of Dead is a slot that was released quite some time ago by one of my favorite providers- Play'n Go. I have to say, when I first heard of this game being launched, I wasn't necessarily excited to try it, for the simple reason it being another "book of" game. And I feel like nowadays there's already so many games like this, majority coming from Play'n Go, that it's just not exciting anymore. But since I do love Play'n Go, I thought to give it a try at least.

As you can tell by the name, the game is again inspired by their "Dead" series, hence the slot takes you to Ancient Egypt, which is very common for the book type of slots. The only thing I do find interesting about this game is the fact that instead of 5 reels and 10 paylines, Secret of Dead is a 10 payline slot with 6 reels.

If I'm being honest, the base game isn't too exciting. You have a wild symbol that is also a scatter symbol and 3 or more trigger free spins bonus round. Other than that, you have your high paying and low paying symbols, but no other base game feature. So the base game itself I don't find exciting.

Then, once you trigger the free spins, you get 8 free spins with a selected symbol that expands, which again is very typical to these kinds of slots. If you do get 3 or more scatters, you get 5 more free spins and another symbol is selected as a special symbol, which is similar to Legacy of Dead. I have had the free spins on this game many times and only once managed to get another expanding symbol, but it ended up with a less than 100x bet win anyway.

Overall I find Secret of Dead to be a mediocre game, it's not bad but it's definitely not unique. I do like the fact that there are 6 reels instead of 5 and that you can get more expanding symbols in the free spins. But having said that, the payouts are quite average. I've had a few wins over 100x bet, but on average the bonus pays anywhere from 20x-40x. If I have to compare it to other Play'n Go games with similar features, I prefer Book of Dead and Legacy of Dead instead of this game, but if you're low rolling, it's not a bad option due to the minimum bets being only 10 cents.

The secret of the dead is the latest edition that is based on the Book of Series of slots. Play 'n Go usually create these highly volatile slots, as they are popular amongst the community, however, I am seriously tired of these types of slots, even though I like this slot.

The slot has 6 reels, which means even bigger wins are possible than the standard you will find on the book of slots. There is a wild symbol that also acts as scatter, and it will pay the same as the Cleopatra top paying symbol.

Then the slot is like Scroll of the dead, which has 6 reels, but you will also find that it has a bit of legacy of the dead with its re-triggers and additional symbols that will act as scatters. That means you can activate all symbols as scatters for huge wins.

I must admit, this slot does not play as highly volatile in the base game as your standard book of the dead. You win often and sometimes decent small wins as well. Snakes 5 of a kind comes in handy when the balance is down. I sometimes set the game to 100 auto-spins and if a bonus was not triggered, I have lost maybe like 20x my balance. With the book of the dead, you will easily find 50 dead spins if the game is in a bad mood.it

I would recommend this slot to anyone, however, it's getting old now, as many providers are designing these types of slots, and it becomes even more boring these days.
