Last Stand

Sabaton is one of the latest game releases from Play n Go software provider and I first discovered it around two months ago. In the past year I have been playing quite a lot of Play n Go slots and really enjoy them which is why I was quite curious about this release as well.

Sabaton was released with quite an anticipation as it was a collaboration with the rock band and therefore it kind of reminded me of Netents slot Motörhead. I had no clue about the band but I liked the theme and inspiration for someone who wasn’t a fan of the band.

The slot itself is quite interesting with 5 reels and 10 paylines. I must admit that I really wish there were more paylines as from my experience it can be quite hard to hit any decent win on Sabaton. But the game definitely is exciting with its base game and bonus features.

Something I hadn’t seen before was their scatter feature. To trigger bonus round you need to get at least 9 scatter symbols which at first seems almost impossible to achieve. However it’s not that difficult based on the fact that the game offers linked reel feature where up to 3 reels can be synchronized and turn into matching symbols, including scatter. That’s how I have managed to trigger most of my bonus rounds on the slot. Scatter symbols can also turn into other symbols to create a win, which is a cool feature but most of the time pays low.

Aside from the linked reels there is also final chance feature which can make either one or two reels into wilds. I have gotten it several times along with linked reels feature and in theory that’s when you could expect decent hits. Unfortunately most of the time it’s dead spins or a win worth 10x-15x bet.

Now the bonus round.. The bonus is 7 free spins bonus without any multiplier and before entering the bonus round you will get one special symbol which will come up stacked on the middle reels. Most of the times I have gotten the lowest paying symbols and therefore no great wins. I think it’s nice that the last chance wild reels can also be triggered on bonus round which is when I have gotten a tiny bit bigger wins.

All in all, I believe that this is a fun game and it’s entertaining for low rolling sessions as it gives frequent wins. I don’t think that this is a game with spectacular winning potential as full screen of wilds pays only 1000x bet and isn’t easy to achieve. My best win so far is only around 100x bet and I’ve played dozens of bonus rounds which is quite unfortunate. I would play this with small balance just to boost it up a little but I definitely would go for Book of Dead any time of the week instead.

The chained reels feature may trigger randomly on every spin, either 2x2 or 3x3 adjacent reels will display the same symbols for bigger wins. The last stand feature can give 2 fully stacked wild reels. Watch out when chained feature and last stand feature trigger together for bigger wins with mega rocker symbols.

The game also has metal Stacks and mystery symbols feature. One random symbol is chosen and appear as the mystery symbol if 3 – 8 scatter symbols land on the reels. If 9 more scatter symbols land on the reels it triggers the Sabaton battalion free spins feature instead. 7 free spins awarded are and symbol is chosen randomly to become the metal Stacks and mystery Symbol for the whole feature. You would hope that wild symbol is the mystery symbols to win up to x5000 your bet. You can also retrigger the feature to give you 7 more free spins. Re-triggers are unlimited.

I love this slot and had some big wins, on average between x50 and x200 but never a good x500. This slot is good for wagering but the free spins feature can take forever to trigger at times.
