Nonetheless, the maximum possible single win is still 5000x, same as in all the other ‘Book’ games, but each free spins feature game may have a slightly varying payout amount.

The Globe is the Wild and Scatter symbol, Merlin is the top paying regular symbol, both paying 500x for a 5-of-a-kind win, but the other symbols have a slightly lower than usual win values of 160x to 8x. Don’t know why this drop in the values, but probably to make this game a slightly lower volatility one. As in the Legacy game, all nine symbols can become the Bonus scattering symbol, one at a time of course, and randomly selected with each retrigger of the free spins. To get all nine Bonus symbols, you therefore need to get 8 retriggers, if that’s possible at all. The most and the best that I’ve gotten in the Legacy game was 4 Bonus symbols. In this Merlin game, only one!

Playing this game is not much different than playing on that Legacy game, or on any other ‘Book’ game either. The free spins feature game could take ages to come, or quite quickly once in a while, but dishing out low wins most of the time. Getting wins of under 10x should be expected, getting a 20x to 40x win is usual, and getting anything above a 200x win is very rare. Game play is interesting in the earlier stages, then getting stretched out as you go along, and becoming rather boring after many thousands of spins done. The wins go in that order too. In short, nice to play at first, better to skip later on, hehehe.

Recently, I've decided to give my first try on 'Rise Of Merlin' due to the fact, that I had negative effects, on my balance with certain titles from this provider-I really had this- in 'quarantine' mode. Rise of Merlin is Play n' GO's take on the Merkur classic Magic Mirror Deluxe II. With an inspiration like that, the result can't go completely wrong in terms of potential, and Rise of Merlin does not disappoint in relation to its origin.

The basic idea is about the same as Magic Mirror Deluxe II: Hit the bonus and retrigger as much as possible to unlock the vast potential, as you get an additional expanding symbol each time you land 3 or more scatters. Along the way you have a very volatile base game, that can be pretty dry or might grant you some nice hits, in the same manner as a traditional book game.

The RTP in the base game can vary a lot, from around 25-30% to actually maintaining the balance over long stretches. I wouldn't call Rise of Merlin the perfect slot for wagering though...

There are a couple of important differences when you compare to Magic Mirror Deluxe II. Apart from the top symbol, Merlin himself, payouts for full lines are only 80% of the usual awards: A full line of kings pays only 12x instead of the traditional 15x, a full line of the red dragon (2nd best symbol) pays only 160x instead of 200x and so on.

The number of free spins are reduced in the same manner: You get 8 initial spins instead of 10, and this applies to the retriggers as well. On the sunny side, Rise of Merlin feels a lot easier to bonus than its obvious inspiration, Magic Mirror Deluxe II, at least that's my impression. RoM's overall RTP of 96,58% could indicate this (MMD II has 95,63% in comparison).

Anyway, this slot (as well as the Egyptian themed version Legacy of Dead) is a worthy addition to the Play n' GO portfolio, at least in my humble opinion.

No dislikes as such, apart from the slightly reduced payouts for the majority of the symbols, when you compare to Rise of Merlin's counterpart Magic Mirror Deluxe II.

Rise of Merlin is one of the newest games from Play'n Go software provider and I've been quite intrigued in this game since it was released. I've seen many other players winning big and it worked as a great inspiration to try my own luck with it.

So in my last session, I got the bonus with one of the letter symbols as expanding ones and then a few free spins later I retriggered the feature and overall ended up with my biggest win on the game of over 180x bet. Taking into consideration that I loaded up the game with only a few euro balance, it was a great boost.
