When I first came across this Pearl Lagoon game from Play’nGo, I got attracted to it. Why? Simply because it reminded me of my former favourite game Dolphin Reef from Playtech. There’s the dolphin, the turtle, the seahorse, and the fish, and I’m thinking, is this a cloned game of Dolphin Reef? After browsing through Pearl Lagoon’s paytable, only then I realised that is it not. What surprised me even further was that the paytable is more similar to another one of Playtech’s game, Safari Heat, also a former favourite of mine. Well, it looks like this Pearl Lagoon game is actually a combination of Dolphin Reef and Safari Heat.
I’m also wondering why the heck I haven’t been playing much of this game all this while, when it should also have been one of my favourite games like the other two! The paytable is good - 5 Wilds paying 250x the total bet, 5 Scatters paying 200x the total bet, and the free spins game offers 15 free spins with a 3x multiplier. Retriggering is also possible, but unlike unlimited retriggers in Safari Heat, Pearl Lagoon can only retrigger up to 60 free spins, but I guess this should be good enough.
Playing this Pearl Lagoon game got me confused at first, but only for a short while. Why? Because the Dolphin Wild symbol doesn’t expand into a full Wild Reel as in Dolphin Reef, but wins with the Dolphin Wild gets double payment as in Safari Heat. Anyway, this shouldn’t pose any confusion to other players, because I don’t think there are many other fanatics of the two Playtech games as I am, hehehe.
After playing Pearl Lagoon for a few times, I now know why this game couldn’t stick with me for long. To put it very briefly and very simply, Pearl Lagoon pays like Dolphin Reef does, despite having better winning potentials as in Safari Heat. Nevertheless, even those two Playtech games can no longer pay as good as they used to, so I’m not complaining much about Pearl Lagoon. Nowadays, it is very hard to find games that can pay good, because even the good old oldies have now been adulterated! Argh!
