Merlin’s Magic Respins is another great game from NextGen which for a theme has the famous wizard Merlin. There is another version of this game called Merlin’s Millions and these two games are very much alike but with a few crucial differences.

The graphic is on a descent level like all NextGen slots and so is the background music. The designers of the game paid good attention to the details and the slot has an overall pleasant look. One of the main features of the game is the stacked wilds. They have a max payout of 1000 x bet line for a 5 of a kind combination.

Considering that this slot has 50 paylines a full screen of stacked wilds is a nice win. But there is more to this slot than just a screen full of wilds. How about a screen full of wilds that remain there for another let’s say 15 spins. Now that’s something else.
This is where the wild respins come into action. You can up the respin level up to 5 respins but this affects the total bet. So you are looking at a high bet in order to get the maximum payout. This is definitely a high roller slot. In order to win big the wild respin feature must be set at max while the coin size can remain at minimum. To explain how this works. If the respin feature is set at 5, when you get a full reel of stacked wilds they remain on that reel for the 5 spins. If you get an extra set of wild reel you get 5 more respins with 2 reels of stacked wilds. This can go up to 5 full reels of wilds and a total of 25 respins. I can say for sure that on a 14$ bet the win from this feature is about 33 000 $ which is a great number considering the starting balance was only 1 000$.

Some slots from NextGen Gaming are that successful and popular among players that they get a sequel. Merlin Millions was one of those type of games that was respected and loved by a broad audience of online slots players. Merlin Magic Respins is the successor of that game and has something different to offer with some great improvements.

This game offers 50-paylines, 5-reels and 4 rows. The format is pretty much the same as the previous game. On reels 2, 3 and 4 a cauldron symbol appears which is the scatter. You need all three to trigger the free spins feature. In addition, there are stacked wilds that appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 as well.

So it’s possible to get a good win during base game. You might now wonder what the main difference is between this game and part I. Well the difference is the re-spins feature. To activate this feature however you need make use of the superbet functionality. This will up your bet and the number of possible re-spins.

The minimum bet on this game is 50 cents, so upping your bet to use that feature can be a costly move. The main catch during the re-spin feature is that Merlin who’s standing next to the slot will turn one reel wild and make it possible for stacked wilds to appear on reels 1 and 5 as well.

If during the re-spins another stacked wild fully covers a reel, it will hold as well. But my problem with this feature is that 5 re-spins would cost 3.50 euros. I’m a high roller maybe 3 times per year and certainly can’t afford those type of bets usually.

So I preferred not to use any of those superbets functionality since the rewards for 5oak combos weren’t that impressive either. You get 7 free spins for 3 scatters btw. And as usual Merlin will turn random symbols wild during that feature.

I managed to have some decent wins there of 40x bet size and during base game not really much. I wouldn’t recommend this game to others though unless if you’re high roller. Have played it only briefly and I know enough. I'll stick to the previous game.

This game with full functionality (Superbet 5 re-spins) is out of reach for low rollers or even mid rollers. Too expensive and too much of a risk. Wish they made it cheaper.

Merlin magic respins video slot is very similar to another one game which created by software nextgen - merlin millions. But here is come some improvements, and game just become even much more better.

Merlins magic respins has 50 paylines and featuring typical for this game thing - super bet. For adding some coins to your bet you can choose number of extra respins with holding wilds. In this game when stacked wild appear(it appears only on 2 and 4 reels during base game)start respin. if you play with super bet, the more you super betting more respins awarded. During respins stacked wild can appear on any reel and hold till respins end, since that it is possible to collect full screen of wilds. It will pay 50.000 coins, so not so big win to be honest. free spins triggered by 3 scatters on middle reel, and you will play 7 free spins, during each spin merlin can cast magic and make even more wilds. To be honest i am not often player of this game because from my opinion game payouts not very great, and should be much more better, at least wilds should pay in few times more coins that they pay actually. My best win on this game is nearly x 100 total bet, but like i said i am rare play this game. It can pay bigger but chances not so great. Also i can inform you that game looks really great and it is pleasure to watch on merlin, well done nextgen.

I like this game, it has medium variance, but payouts for wilds should be higher in my own opinion. they really low and max win for screen of wilds is about x 100 total bet not so great. I am not sure if i visit this game again, because i like potential to hit monster money while playing, here it is not possible.

This slot “Merlin Magic Respins” has both a good side and a very weak part. Generally the slot is nice, but you have play with the bet at maximum level (i.e. level 5) because only this way you will have those promised respins. Playing with the total bet on level 1, even if the slot says that it gives you a free respin, you will not actually get anything. I am a stingy gambler by my nature, so I fooled here for about 50 spins until I said myself that I do not have what to lose because I play on virtual money, and I increased the bet. My hunch is that playing on real money and with the bet on level 5 and at maximum, when a single spin costs 175 Euro, even in Las Vegas you would not find enough players to play this slot. Even for 1 cent/line, because there are 50 paylines the bet at level 5 is 3.5 Euro/spin. This is too much to start with, but sometimes it is worth.

I will probably never allow myself to risk so much, because here 50% of the winnings have a standard value of 5-25 cents, which often will bring you to exasperation. This is the weak side slot. Here there are no winnings of average value, or all are of 25 cents, or they have a high value (3-10 Euros) or even a very high value (30-100 Euros). The main feature is that when an entire reel (4 lines) is full of Wild Merlin then the solt gives 5 free respins with the Wilds hold in place. And because Merlin who is on the left of the slot does quite frequently spells and turns randomly the symbols on the reels into Wilds, quite often you will get in these respins.
