Someone brought forward some news about Quickspin's latest game, Hot Sync. Well, it was already probably about 1 or 2 months old by that time, but newly introduced at Casumo, my top favourite non-Playtech casino, so I was eager to try it out. And what do you know? It was like Casumo had read my mind and offered me 5 free Super Spins on Hot Sync, and that got me all excited, to say the least. One Super Spin was worth 2.50 EUR, so I had 12.50 EUR worth of hot spins to play Hot Sync. Hmm. What could be more hot than that, right? Hehehe.
Before even playing the game, I did what I usually do first, and that was to have a peek at the paytable first. All games are designed around the paytable, and whatever is shown in there would tell me how the game would play and pay. In Hot Sync, the word 'WILD' is the Wild symbol, paying a very low 50x the total bet for getting 5 of them, and substituting for other symbols except the 'Hot Sync' and the Bonus symbols. This Wild symbol is nonetheless a dumb symbol because it doesn't double any wins, nor becoming stacked or expanded on the reels. The 'Hot Sync' symbol is also a Wild symbol, but doesn't pay anything for itself. What it does, when 2 or more of these 'Hot Sync' symbols appear anywhere on the reels, is to expand, synchronise the reels, and make 1 free Respin. Any new 'Hot Sync' symbol appearing would trigger another respin, making it possible to get all 5 synchronised 'Hot Sync' reels in one respin. Sounds good right?
The 'Bonus Game' is the Bonus symbol, appearing only on reels 2, 3 and 4. It doesn't pay anything for itself, but getting all 3 symbols trigger 8 free spins with Sticky 'Hot Sync' Wild Reels and Respins. The Free Spins game cannot be retriggered, but this is compensated by the respins of each appearing 'Hot Sync' symbol during the free spins. Getting all 5 Hot Sync reels would pay the maximum possible wins. As for the other symbols in the game, the Diamond pays 25x, the '7' pays 15x, the Star pays 10x, the Bell pays 10x, and the various Fruits pay from 6.25x to 5x, all per total bet amount for getting 5 of each kind. Sadly to say, the paytable is a very low one for the 20 paylines.
Being a new game, I have always suspected that the game would play very well in its early stages, becoming more and more 'tight' with time, as I have already found out with numerous other newly released games. They all seem to work the same way. With Hot Sync, I had a marvellous first play on it. Those 5 free Super Spins from Casumo gave me an incredible 137.50 EUR win, by giving a Bonus game on the 4th spin. The wagering required to be done on this win was 6187.50 EUR, a humongous amount, but I was happy nonetheless, because it gave me an excellent opportunity to give Hot Sync a longer play and to get to know the game better.
For the first 2 hours of play on Hot Sync, I was very happy with the performance so far, but upon reaching about 5000 EUR wagers, the game went dead, my entire laptop got a complete 'system hang', and I had to do a reboot before I could play the game again. This was really really weird, because I have not had any 'system hang' for years, and after rebooting my laptop, I couldn't even find any odd single error in my system! How and why that system hang occurred, is an unsolved mystery for me.
What I could clearly see happening after that incident, was a complete turnaround of the game! For the next 400 spins, not one single Bonus game came, not one single big win came either, and it was down and down all the way, right up to zero balance, from a credit balance of about 500 EUR, with which I was quite sure I could end the wagering and make a nice profit in the end! Ending up with a zero balance was totally unbelievable for me! Hot Sync was one game that performed from an initial good to horribly bad. No more Hot Sync for me!
