Graphically, the game is not that good. The animations are great though. Symbols on the reels include a well-dressed man with a glass of champagne which is also the highest paying symbol by the way. Christmas has just passed a week ago, and a New Year has already begun, but this Holiday Season game from Play'nGo is still around for all to play and enjoy. Most other games have 'Christmas' or 'Santa' in their game titles, but not for Holiday Season. Play'nGo chose to name their latest release 'Holiday Season' instead, perhaps to include the new year celebrations as well. A smart move, I would say. But why I said their latest release, and not their new game? Simply because Holiday Season isn't a new game at all but a direct clone of their 'Pimped' game. Everything remains almost identical, except for the symbols and a minor change in the paytable. A minor change perhaps, but it does make quite a profound impact on the game itself.

The best thing that I like about this Holiday Season game, and Pimped too, is the 0.10 EUR minimum starting bet for each spin, but the paylines can be reduced to just 1 line if so desired, for a 0.01 EUR starting bet per spin. Most other games have done away with selective paylines, so I'm very glad that this selective option is still available for both the games. Hope Play'nGo won't follow the others by removing this option. Even NetEnt's Dead or Alive plays with fixed 9 paylines now, including fixed 10 paylines for their Starburst game, which I really cannot appreciate at all, because it is making players pay more per spin and lose more in the long run.

The red Present Box is the Wild symbol, the 1 of only 2 symbols in this game that reflects a Christmas festivity atmosphere, and 5 of which pays a low 1000x the line bet. It substitutes for other symbols except for the Scatter symbol, is stacked in both the base and Free Spins games, but doesn't do anything else. Wish it could double all wins with it though, but this isn't so either in Pimped. The Champagne Bottle is the Scatter symbol, it doesn't pay anything for itself, making it another dumb symbol, but getting 3 or more of them triggers 5 free spins with a guaranteed win for every spin. Every Champagne Bottle symbol appearing during the free spins awards 2 more free spins. This is the part that I like best in this game. As for the symbols in the game, the Man pays 750x, the Lady Santa pays 500x, the Clock pays 400x, the Roast Turkey pays 250x, the Pudding pays 250x too, and the rest pay 150x to 50x, making it all a low paytable. However, the paytable indicates a maximum possible win of 500,000 coins from the Free Spins game, but I simply cannot see how this can be achieved, unless every free spin pays 1000x or so the total bet amount, for each and every free spin, which just seems impossible! Could be a mistake in the paytable, or it just have to be seen if it is indeed possible. Only time will tell.

Holiday Season is a high variance game, a level lower than Pimped (which has a maximum possible win of 1,000,000 coins!), so the game tends to go spin after spin without paying anything at all. This isn't the most obvious Christmas themed game I've ever seen, there's no Santa and no garish red colors filling the screen. Kind of makes a nice change actually! Even more surprising though was the fact that this turned out to be a simple rebranding of another Play N Go slot - "Pimped". I haven't noticed Play N Go putting out a lot of these cheaply made clones yet, so I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. That said, Pimped was a great game that deserves to be much more popular than it is, so perhaps this game will help to give it (and Play N Go) a little more exposure.

The payout for a line of wilds though is just 1000 coins, and ten lines of that would give a jackpot of 50,000 coins or just 1,000x your stake? Perhaps I've got something wrong here, but it seems like a miscalculation to me.

Nevertheless, this is an excellent game and if you haven't bothered with Pimped because you didn't like the theme, maybe this game will be a bit more palatable for you!

“Holiday Season” slot does not have a feature of that type, but unfortunately I think this game really needs this since it is a slot provided with 10 regular symbols, many to be a 10-line slot, and additionally prices set in the paytable are truly tight, so that in this game they are called “big wins” payouts that we would consider normal in other video slots, for example, they appear the words “Big Win” if you get a payout about 15x your total bet, and “Super Big Win” with a payout about 20x; they are big wins only compared with wins from this same slot.

Our only ally during the base game is the wild symbol that is set to appear stacked, however, this wild does not double our profits or anything like that, and low prices practically neutralize most of the benefits that this symbol may grant.

There is also a round of 5 free spins where each spin guarantees a win; additionally, this round can be extended by two more turns with each scatter appearing on the reels. Nevertheless, this round does not seem to make any difference since equally every hit will be paid to those low prices specified on the paytable.

During my first session, my best win was only 25x my total bet and this came from all the hits obtained during a whole round of free spins that finally was extended up to 7 spins; I think if a slot has such a low performance during the base game, at least it should have a better proposal to present during its special features.

At the moment, I think it is better to look for another slot to play this Christmas since “Holiday Season” does not seem to be a gift precisely.
