Hidden Valley is 5 reels and 40 pay-lines video slot powered by Quickspin software provider. This slot is inspired with Victorian ages and travelers who were searching for the Hidden Valley. Reels setting is somewhat unusual, the 1st and 5th reel have 3 rows, and 2nd, 3rd and 4th reel have regular 5 rows. Reels are set against the Himalayan landscape. Before you go looking for the Valley, you should adjust your betting range. By clicking on "Total Bet" button you can set the coins denomination which ranges from 0.60 to 60. By clicking on "Autoplay" you will set the reels turning automatically without interruption for a chosen number of times. Just above autoplay button you will see "Spin" button which will set the reels in motion.
Wild symbol is green and big. It appears stacked on the reels. Wild symbols substitute for all symbols except for the Scatter, and it comes with various multipliers.
The game has Multiplier Wilds feature which has a random multiplier for each spin. Multiplier meter is set above the reels. The range of multipliers is set by increasing or decreasing the bet size in the multiplier bet panel. All wins are multiplied by the multiplier displayed on the Wild symbol. Multipliers go up to x10.
Bonus Wheel symbol is the Scatter and if you hit 3 or more of them you will trigger Free Spins. All wins during this round are multiplied by 2. In this round you will get to spin the wheel. The outer ring will determine whether you receive an extra wild and the inner wheel determines the number of spins. If you get an extra wild, one of the triggering symbols will turn to that wild. Two or more Scatters during this feature will award you with another wild or additional spins.

Whenever I see a game having this egg-shaped format that's ready to burst or hatch, I would go "oh gawd!" I have never liked this 3-4-4-4-3 rows format and I never will. There are already lots of games having this format and none of them have managed to capture my interest, and none of them have got into my favourites list. My preference is still first for the standard 5-reels 3-rows format, and second for other formats, but only up to 5-reels 5-rows maximum, as used in Finn And The Swirly Spin game, for example. Anything more than this and I start seeing that game as either a printed toilet roll or a printed kitchen roll game - only to be used when you have made a mess! Me? I'm one person who always try to avoid making any mess! Hahaha.
I thought I have seen the lowest of any paytable from Quickspin games, but this Hidden Valley game beats all the previous lows! The highest paying symbol pays a damn blardy low 0.83x total bet amount for getting 5 of them! What can you ever win with such a ridiculous win value! Not only that, the Wilds and the Scatters (Bonus symbols) don't pay anything for themselves, and if you play with the minimum bet size, the multiplier for all wins is only 1x or 2x! What the argh! If you want bigger random multipliers, then you have to choose it from the options on the rightmost, with up to 10x multiplier, but each higher multiplier adds another 0.40 to the starting bet per spin cost! That's another "what the argh!" This is probably the worst of the lot, but knowing Quickspin, they could come up with paytables that literally pay sand for wins!
Whenever you get 3 Bonus symbols on the reels, you get to spin a Wheel, to win an Extra Wild symbol and/or the number of free spins, up to a maximum of 12 free spins, and with no retriggers either. Damn! That makes for a third "what the argh!" However, getting 2 or more of the Bonus symbols during the free spins award either Extra Free Spins or an Extra Wild symbol, one at a time, up to 3 top symbols as the Extra Wilds. So the free spins would start off with the preselected multiplier of 1x up to 10x, and you may get up to 3 Extra Wild symbols if you're lucky enough. Needless to say, you need to choose the highest multipliers option, with a starting bet of 1.20 per spin, in order to get big wins. With the minimum 0.40 bets, all you can get are ridiculously low payouts!
I played with the minimum bets at first, but also tried a few spins with those higher multipliers option, with disastrous results! Trying to get any win of 25x was already seeming like an impossible mission, at whatever bet size played! Well, that was my first ever play on Hidden Valley, and definitely my last! This game can participate in the eternal winter Olympics in my deep freezer! Hahaha.
