When I first played this Gold Rush game from Pragmatic Play, I got a little bit confused initially because I mistook it for Betsoft’s Gold Canyon game - both use the dynamite and gold nugget symbols, in different winning ways, but the games are not clones. Whether Betsoft games are better than Pragmatic Play’s, or the reverse, is not important to me, but if I were to choose, it would always be Betsoft games first.

Comparing the win values of the symbols of the two games, those in Gold Rush are on the very low side, typical of almost all of Pragmatic Play games. Both the Wild and Scatter symbols are non-paying, and the top symbol (the Miner) only carries a 20x total bet value for a 5-of-a-kind win. With absolutely no win multipliers anywhere in the game, there’s virtually no chance of getting any big wins of 500x or more, with the exception of getting all 15 Miner symbols on the reels, for a nice 500x win. That, to me, isn’t satisfactory at all.

However, the free spins feature game can be interesting enough to play, in view of the progressive levels within the free spins game. You can also get 2 additional free spins with each appearing Scatter symbol, collect as many Gold Nuggets as you can to progress up the levels, and to earn many more Miner symbols on the reels. Yep, this is probably the only chance you can hope to get all 15 Miners on the reels. Otherwise, don’t ever hope to get them in the base game, because it is simply impossible!

Yes, I have given Gold Rush many plays and many sessions so far, but only getting miserably small wins most of the time. There were times when many Miner symbols appeared on the reels, with even 5-of-a-kind wins, but none could pay a win of more than 100x my staked amount, and that’s simply disgusting! I wouldn’t ever want to play this game with my own money, except with given free spins or bonus money!

Great game! I know it inside out now and have won heaps of money on it. There's enough exciting features in it that if you're winning, it's hard to get bored. Once you've built up to bigger bets the payouts are amazing!
