In this case, I was a bit surprised they decided to create the Floating Dragons slot into a megaways version- while I liked the original, I didn't think it was one of their best games. Regardless, I've been exploring most of Pragmatic's new game releases and was interested in trying them out.
When it comes to the game, the mechanics are your traditional megaways slot mechanics- there's a cascade after every winning combination which ends when there are no new winning combinations. But what I like about this game is that there's a few twists. For example, the game has mystery symbols- they can land in free spins and in base game and will then reveal themselves as one of the other symbols.
Other than that, the game also has free spins and a coin collect bonus. The coin hold & win bonus is similar to the original slot- you get 3 respins and they reset if you land a new coin. Each coin has a different value and while I haven't had any huge wins from this feature, I have had a few wins above 100x bet from this bonus. I also think it's interesting that the bonus buy for this feature is 120x while for the free spins round it's 100x. The coin feature is simple but can be a balance booster and I like that there's something additional besides the free spins round.
Speaking of free spins, if you're familiar with the Big Bass Bonanza and the original Floating Dragons slot, the mechanic is quite similar. In the free spins you get 10 free spins for 3 scatters and the goal is to land the lady wild symbols along with fishes. Fishes carry different coin values and if you land them with wilds, you get the coin values. Other than that, collecting 4 lady wilds will also retrigger the feature and you will get all wins 2x multiplied. This can continue with 3x and 10x wilds and so on. I have to say it's very difficult to get to the next stages but that's where the big wins can happen. My best result was once by achieving the 10x multiplier and landing fishes with the lady- I ended up with a 900x bet win. But on average, the free spins can be very volatile and pay less than 50x easily.
All in all, I do find this game quite exciting and I've been doing quite a few bonus buys on it. I think that the design is nice and I like that there's both the free spins round and coin respin- it's one of my latest favorites from Pragmatic Play.
