Fat Santa is a slot by Push Gaming game provider that was released a few years ago. And as you can tell by the name of the game, it's inspired by the Santa Claus theme, with the main character being Fat Santa himself. The game has 40 paylines, a random base game feature and free spins bonus round. 

I have to start by saying that I'm not a fan of seasonal/ festive slots, but Fat Santa is one of my favorites when it comes to Christmas themed games. However, the one thing that disappoints me is the fact that it's a reskin of one of their most popular slots- Fat Rabbit. I wish that this game would have some additional features that would make it unique, but in this case the features are identical to Fat Rabbit. But I do like the Fat Rabbit slot quite a lot.

As I mentioned, there are two features in this game. In the base game, before any spin, Santa can come up and add wilds to the reels. I like this feature and because of it I've had a few decent base game hits- nothing too impressive but it helps to keep the balance steady. Otherwise the base game isn't too exciting for my taste. 

Then there's also a bonus round and you need to get the Santa symbol on reel 1 and at least one mince pie symbol on the reels, which then triggers 8 free spins. Alternatively, the game also offers a bonus buy option which costs 80x your bet. Sometimes it can take a while to trigger the free spins so I've bought the bonus a few times, but overall I try to stay away from bonus buy features. 

In the free spins, the goal is to feed Santa by collecting mince pie symbols. The free spins start with Santa being a wild symbol on the reels and once you get a mince pie symbol, the Santa will move towards it and eat it. There are altogether 3 stages- to reach the second stage, you need to collect 4 mince pies and then the Santa wild will become bigger and you'll get additional free spins. If you're lucky enough to get to the last stage, the Santa will take over the entire screen, which is whn you can get wins over 1000x bet. 

That being said, I find this game to be very volatile. In my experience, the bonus round usually returns a 30x-60x bet, only a few times I've been lucky enough to get a 100x or 200x bet wins. But I do like the collection feature in the bonus round as it adds a chase element, and even on the second stage, if you get the Santa wild in a good position with premium symbols, you can get a good win. 

Overall it's a fun game, especially in the winter season, based on the game design. But as I said, it can be a quite volatile slot and sometimes getting the free spins bonus can take ages and give a small return. Also I'd like it if they had added an additional feature to the game so it wouldn't be a simple reskin of Fat Rabbit.

You know when it comes to December, most software providers want to make sure they release something related to the festive and Christmas itself. Push gaming was no different and they released Fat Santa, which was a copy of Fat Rabbit and the fact that they added the buy me feature on this slot was the biggest disappointment of all. I really liked Push Gaming but never thought they would go the same route as BTG, Blue Print and the likes with the buy me feature as this messes up the game RTP easily, well for me or us who try to trigger the bonus feature the normal way.


The best of the standard symbols is Santa’s elf who offers pay-outs of up to 25 times your total stake per payline. Fat Santa is wild during free spins but during the base game a piece of cake represent the wild symbol and substitute for everything and help the scatter symbol trigger free spins.

Santa’s Sleigh feature - On any base game spin, Santa’s animated sleigh can fly across the screen and drop Christmas pies onto the reels. These are wild and in play on the spin that follows.


Free Games feature: The free spins round is triggered by landing a wild Santa on reel 1 and a wild mince pie symbol on the same spin on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. You’ll start with 5 free spins but there’s plenty of scope to add more. If a mince pie symbol lands, the Santa symbol moves towards it and eats it. Each pie eaten adds to the pie meter. The wild Santa symbol gets bigger the more pies he eats and at the same time you are awarded with extra spins. If Santa is at it's biggest it will award x1000 your total stake for each spin.


If you do not want play and enter the free spins, you'll then can buy the free spins feature at x80 your total stake. Fat Santa is entertaining slot, but I somehow feel because of the buy feature, most free spins sessions end up being cold, so I would stick to Fat Rabbit instead. I had only x200 win here, where with Fat Rabbit close to x1000.
