My "black and white" experience with Curse of the Werewolf Megaways was subpar in my endeavors. As a delightful fan of Megaways slots, I had high hopes for this wolf-themed game, but damn, was I in for a big disappointment!

I swear, this slot had wet enraged fangs against me! I lost count of how many times I'd get those first two reels with matching symbols only to have the 3rd reel as a non-connector for them, giving it a chance to laugh in my face.

Okay so similar to Booming Games' "The Wild Wings of Phoenix", the feature here is about collecting werewolves. "How can we make this more frustrating?" Well, congratulations, Pragmatic Play, you've succeeded again! The whole process of collecting those yellow-backgrounded werewolves to slash down character health bars is quite tiresome to some players. I mean we've already triggered and earned the bonus why do we need to work it some more!? It's slow.....painfully slow. These symbols attack for one or more slashes per the aforementioned werewolves.

I managed to hit a few line hits and a few free spins features, I felt like I was in some sort of slot game purgatory. I'd watch those health bars slowly deplete, praying for more werewolves to appear. But no, the game decided to be stingy. By the time I got to the third or fourth character transformation, I'd be down to my last spin or two. And you know what happened then? Dead spins. Yep, all that build-up for absolutely nothing.

While some players might find joy in this wolfish wonder, I found myself wanting to run away screaming in terror. After an hour of play, I had less than 14x my bet to show for it. I felt like I'd been mauled by a pack of werewolves, and not in a good way (if there is such a thing).

Curse of the Werewolf Megaways is a slot game that comes from Pragmatic Play and was released quite some time ago. I believe I first discovered it on the Social Tournaments site playing free-roll battles and came to like the game. And ever since, this is a game I play from time to time when I'm in a mood for a different-type of megaways game, and I'll explain what makes it different in my eyes.

The game itself is inspired by the Werewolf theme and for me personally it gives Halloween vibes. Aside from that, there's also 4 human characters. Visually speaking, it's a nice looking game and I like how they've incorporated the werewolf graphics. Also I think that the base game is quite interesting due to the multiple features it offers. 

First of all, usually megaways games have a cascade after a winning combination, where new symbols land on the reels after a win, but in this case, Curse of the Werewolf Megaways doesn't offer that. But instead this game offers different features, including a super spin, where you get stacks of the higher paying symbols; another feature which gives a guaranteed win as well as  mystersy symbols feature that can land on any spin and turn into other symbols. I've experienced all of the features and my favorite so far has been the Mystery symbols feature, as it appears quite frequently and can give good base game hits. I've had a few wins close to 100x bet on the base game simply due to this feature. And while I also like the guaranteed win spin, from my experience it appears rarely and usually gives a low win. 

Aside from that, the game also has a bonus round, which you trigger by 3 howling wolves scatter symbols. And I really enjoy the bonus feature as it has a chase element of sorts. You start by having 8 free spins and the goal is to turn the 4 characters into wolves. The way you do it is by getting the special werewolf strike symbols, which strike the characters. There are 4 stages- one for each character, and once you've turned the character into a werewolf, you get 1 extra spin as well as the character symbol becomes a werewolf symbol. I've managed to get to the last stage a few times and that's when you can get big wins, as 3 of the premium symbols are then werewolves. I've managed to turn all symbols into wolves only once and unfortunately that time the rest of the spins were dead spins. However, even completing the 3rd stage you can get great wins, my best one being 300x bet win.

Overall I quite enjoy this game, especially because of the bonus feature where you need to turn symbols into wolves. But it's definitely a very volatile game, as the bonus round can easily pay 15x bet if you're not lucky to get the werewolf strike symbols. But I really like the dark design and the fact that it offers something more unique than any other regular megaways game.
