Not many software providers have games themed on cows. As far as I know, NetEnt and Relax Gaming (or is it Nolimit City, not very sure) have one game each with cows as the main character. Both these games are quite okay to be played, as far as I am concerned, but still couldn’t make it into my favourite list, for being below my expectations. This Crazy Cows game from Play’n Go is also an oldie game, like the other two, but among the three, this one I hate the most!

Whenever any game falls below my expectations, then I don’t like that game. Crazy Cows, for instance, actually has a reasonable paytable, but I don’t like the lower win values of all the symbols, and I also don’t like the 2 feature games that it offers. 5 Wilds pay only 2500x, 5 Scatters pay only 50x the total bet, and the other regular symbols pay from 750x down to 100x, all below my standard level of acceptability.

The first feature game, activated by getting 3 Barn Bonus symbols, awards a random prize and a random number of free spins, but most of the time, the awards are rather disappointing. How so? In my recent play on Crazy Cows, I managed to get 3 times of this feature game, but the number of free spins it gave was 5, 7 and 13, all with a 2x multiplier. How much did each feature game paid? 5x, 17x and 19x my bet amount, damn low payouts, and that really sucks!

The second feature game, when a Broken Heart symbol lands on reel 2 and 4, and with a Bull Wild symbol anywhere on reel 3, the Broken Hearts 5 Respins feature game is awarded. Now this feature game is definitely the most rubbish of the two. Why? I got 4 times of this feature game in my recent play session, and each one paid out 2x, 0x, 0x and 5x my bet amount. Never got any additional +2 Respins either. This is simply ridiculous and absolutely rubbish! You might think that it was probably due to my bad luck, but I have played this game several times before, some years back, and I simply hated this game then. Why I played it again now was simply for the sake of putting down my thoughts in this game review.

The wild covers the whole third reel during the respins so I can only imagine the potential of this game. I did not manage to activate this feature unfortunately.

There is another bonus I did not have a chance to see its potential. It is called High Dive Bonus. This feature is activated with the scatter symbols on the first, third and the fifth reel. Maybe that is why it is so difficult to trigger it.

I've been checking out more and more Play N Go slots recently as I've found them to give a decent amount of playtime, regular features, and really just all round a more fun experience than a lot of recent games from the longer established slot producers. These games are getting more and more common now, and I don't think it will be long before Play N Go are just as ubiquitous as NetEnt and Microgaming.

Crazy Cows is an unashamedly cute game, even the letter symbols (CRAZY rather than the more usual TJQKA - a nice touch) are drawn funkily and have little touches like flowers and rubber ring ducks illustrating them. Sometimes slots in this style can get a little childish but I think Crazy Cows strikes the right balance.

Hitting the bonus round doesn't feel any more difficult than usual despite the fact the games bonus symbol only appears on three reels but unfortunately when you do land these you then have to successfully navigate a "Pick Me" bonus in order to receive the free spins. Only five spins are awarded but you do get a stacked wild locked into place on the third reel for each of these, and only two scatters are needed for a retrigger.

Strangely the game uses a different symbol for it's scatter and it doesn't have a bonus attached during the base game but during the free spins it is this symbol which awards the retriggers - I guess this arrangement must have been necessary to make the RTP figures add up, you soon get used to it but it seems a little confusing and unnecessary at first!

Paytable wise this isn't the best of the Play N Go games and I must say I felt a little bit disappointed overall considering how much I have been enjoying these games recently. It feels a lot like a medium low variance game to me, and surely there are way too many of those around already?

I played this game recently and must say that I was pleasantly surprised. With such themes unfortunately my expectations aren’t too high. The symbols are decorated with several type of cows, including a bull (wild), dog (scatter) and a Bonus farm house symbol.

The bull wild is responsible for the biggest possible payout in this game of 2,500 coins. In addition, there is a special feature which can be triggered with the wild. On reel 3 the wild symbol appears as an expanding wild. If this symbol appears together with the broken medallion symbol on reels 2 and 4, then you can look forward to 5 re-spins with the expanding wild being held and the possibility to re-trigger the feature with an additional 2 re-spins.

I only experienced this feature twice but it did do my bankroll a huge favor with a 110x and 30x bet boost. Besides this feature there are also the bonus farm house symbols. Crazy Cows is a true Farm game ’every inch’. I like how the funny and cute animal figures invite us to introduce their exclusive life. I think this game is more about to create a joyful atmosphere than to dazzle us with its exceptional graphics and I must say they achieved this goal, at least for me. Dogs, goats, cows all have the ability to make us laugh but the Bull and all of its little moves, posing are really priceless. Sometimes I really like to pop in just to give a chance for them to make my mood and cheer me up and if I’m lucky they could do it not just one way.

This is a 15-payline slot with not the best payout numbers. 2500 coins are the maximum we can win with a 5 of a kind type win and because the Bull (Wild) characters are needed for this accomplishment we can’t multiply this win during normal game mode. By the way, we couldn’t win more by any other symbols as the Wild doesn’t have win multiplying ability but at least it appears in expanded format on the middle reels and a little feature the game offers also attached to this function. If it turns up on the third reel and both the second and the fourth reels contains at least one Broken Heart shape medallion symbol 5 re-spin is awarded and during that spins the Bull remains covering all three position on the inner reel.

One of my best sequence was also thanked to this extra as I got re-spins and the feature was re-triggered 2 times and I was getting some nice winnings when one of my last spin brought additional 2 Bull characters to the first 2 reels and at the end of the re-spin feature my balance increases with €90 some. Then I went on to the traditional colors/suits gambling feature and risk this won amount and chose Red and Miss Fortune just held my hand and I could came out with an almost €200 win. Even though this bonus doesn’t have any plus multiplying value but sometimes it really works like a normal free spin segment and there were times when at the end I’m surprised how open-handed it was.

Overall I liked this game a lot, the same or even more than other excellent games developed by Play'n Go, and I think it is because in my opinion it combines good looks and a fun story with a pretty fair payment system.
