Have you played this Caishen’s Gold game yet? If you have, then you should instantly recognize the Wild symbol – it’s no other than Caishen himself – and you should also realize that this game is a clone and a sequel to Caishen’s Cash game, released just a few months earlier. Well, this is one more typical trait of Pragmatic Play games – almost all of them are clones of one game or another, so there’s practically nothing new to expect or to have from this provider! That’s also one reason why I see Pragmatic Play games are being unpragmatic – good for a few plays, then simply discard them into the deep freezer!

What’s the difference between the Cash and this Gold game? New symbols in play, 4 Jackpot prizes added, and a different free spins feature game. On top of that, the win values of all the regular symbols have been reduced quite drastically, but the Scatters now pay 50x the total bet for getting 5 of them. The number of 10 free spins remain unchanged, even if triggered by 5 Scatters on the reels, more free spins can be retriggered, but which as I have found out on many occasions, turned out to be mostly empty non-paying additional spins instead! Sheesh!

The 4 Jackpot prizes, ranging from 30x the total bet for the Mini Jackpot, to the 1000x Grand Jackpot, can be won by a randomly activated bonus game during base game play – match 3 same symbols in the bonus game to win the corresponding jackpot prize. But of course, most of the times, you’d only win the Mini or the Minor Jackpot prize. I’ve never won any of the bigger two prizes so far, after numerous play sessions!

Playing this Gold version game is more fun that the Cash game, I do admit, but that’s about all that I can say good about it. If you don’t win the Minor or bigger Jackpot prize, then no other win would even go as high as 50x your staked amount, and that is ridiculous! Wins in the base game are rather rubbishly low, and getting 5-of-a-kind wins during the free spins game may look exciting, but are hardly ever bigger than 40x – no thanks to the extremely low win values of all the symbols. Caishen’s Gold isn’t one of Pragmatic Play’s better games.
