Before you join these colorful, friendly birds, you should set your betting range. By clicking on "Choose Coin" you will set coins size which ranges from 0.02 to 1. "Bet Level" is used to set the number of coins you wish to bet per line. "Spin" will set the reels in motion at the currently chosen bet, and "Max Bet" will set the maximum bet allowed and turn the reels automatically at that bet. Oh my god! When I first saw this new game from BetSoft, I fell in love with it! Not because of the game, but purely because of those beautiful lively birds. They look so adorable and so cute! Just like the other 2-legged walking kind 'birds' too, which are also known as 'chicks', or 'beauts', or whatever. Hehehe. Yes, yes, this Birds game is very similar to Thunderkick's Birds on a Wire game, and similar to a few other games too, but the payout concept is totally different, and the free spins games are triggered differently too. Rather innovative I must admit, but its effectiveness has yet to be proven. Anyway, it's a beautiful new game from BetSoft, that much I can say.
There are no fixed number of paylines in Birds, similar to 'Aloha! Cluster Pays' game. A winning combination is of 3 or more same birds, either on a straight left-to-right line, straight down, or a combination of both. Diagonal lines do not count at all. Each winning combination or combinations is a 'flight', so 4 flights would mean 4 consecutive wins in a row. Each flight fills 1 portion in the Free Flights Meter. Getting 4 flights or more award the Free Spins game of 8, 12, 20, or more free spins, with an unlimited number of free spins possible. Sounds familiar? Yeah, just like Playtech's infinite free spins - retrigger after retrigger after retrigger, up to infinity. If you can believe that, hehehe. Looking at the paytable, I got really confused at first. The terminology used are different from the usual, like that 'flight' thing to mean 'consecutive win'. The Bird symbols pay differently too, but actually means the same thing. Wins are paid by the number of same Birds in each flight, so the paytable only shows the win values for each Bird. Not for 3-of-a-kind or for 5-of-a-kind wins that we are used to. I got an initial shock when I saw the win values for the Birds! I knew it couldn't be right, but it was right, only I didn't know at first that it is for each Bird. Hmm, really confusing, until I've played the game.
To cut a long story short, Birds do not have the high win potentials of Birds on a Wire, because there aren't any win multipliers anywhere in the game, which is such a big letdown! In Birds on a Wire, you can win with up to 20x multiplier in the Free Spins game, but none whatsoever in Birds. In my only play on the game, which was quite a long play, I managed to get 4 Free Spins games, but the payouts were 18x, 24x, 20x and 21x my bet amount, which were nothing but disappointing, to say the least. I couldn't get any retriggers either, which again differs from Birds on a Wire.
Nonetheless, it is an interesting game to play, unless you hate playing Birds on a Wire, but the winning potentials in Birds have yet to be seen, because the paytable just cannot indicate any sort of maximum win possible. For me, Birds is the most beautiful birds-themed game I have ever seen. My only wish is that it can pay as good as Birds on a Wire, or like some other normal games.
