Big Bass Bonanza Details, RTP, Payout and Volatility
The Big Bass Bonanza slot game is played using a straightforward 5 reel, 3 row, 10 payline machine. Create winning combinations by landing 3, 4 or 5 matching symbols or wilds left to right in a payline, starting from reel 1.
There’s something for everyone when it comes to bet levels. You can play at stakes of between $/£/€0.10 and $/£/€250 per spin. Use the + and – buttons next to the spin button to adjust your bet size. Players outside the UK can set between 10 and 1,000 auto spins as required as well quick and turbo modes.
The Big Bass Bonanza RTP is 96.71% which sits nicely above the 96% average. That said, there are also versions with 95.67% and 94.5% so be sure to check you’re playing the game with the most favourable return to player rate at casino sites.
The volatility in this angling adventure is on the high side of medium, coming in at 4 out of 5. Finally, the Big Bass Bonanza slot offers 2,100 x bet max wins. Winning this amount will occur every 3.8 million spins on average (the max win probability rate).
Big Bass Bonanza Theme, Audio and Symbols
Like the other games in the Big Bass series, the theme is fishing and the design in the Big Bass Bonanza slot is simply done. The deep blue reels are set underwater and a flanked by assorted plant life and divided by bubbling water.
There’s a rather basic, cartoon quality to the visuals here which are nicely done. This isn’t a high def visual extravaganza. The rather low-key imagery works well with this theme. Likewise, the gentle and rather jazz influenced backing track.
On the reels, you’ll see A to 10 royal ranks alongside 5 higher paying symbols that all relate to the fishing theme. There’s a fish symbol as well as a tackle box, a dragonfly, a fishing rod and a float. Land 5 of the latter across a payline and you’ll hook an award equal to 200 x your total bet.
Entering the action in the bonus round is the fisherman. Proudly holding a whopper he’s caught, the fisherman is the game’s wild. There’s also a Fish Scatter symbol that triggers the free spins. Below is a list of all symbols with their payout values and functions:
- 10: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.5, 2.5 or 10 x bet
- J: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.5, 2.5 or 10 x bet
- Q: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.5, 2.5 or 10 x bet
- K: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.5, 2.5 or 10 x bet
- A: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.5, 2.5 or 10 x bet

Big Bass Bonanza Bonus Features
Big Bass Bonanza comes with just the single bonus feature. It’s a good one though, offering a minimum of 10 free spins. A couple of potentially tasty extras can really rev up the action here too.
Free Spins
Land 3, 4 or 5 Fish Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels on the same base game spin and you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature. Respectively, your reward will be 10, 15 or 20 free spins.
As we mentioned earlier, the Fisherman enters the fray during the free spins. He’s wild and replaces all the standard symbols when he forms part of a winning line. He can also help you net some extra payouts. You’ll see that some of the fish symbols come with cash amounts attached. These are worth 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 50 or 2,000 x your total bet. Most of the time, these fish will harmlessly swim away without troubling the cashier.
That’s not the case when the Fisherman wild lands though. In that happy event, the Fisherman Wild gathers the amounts attached to all the fish on display on that free spin. These are then paid as a prize. Each Fisherman on display catches the fish prizes.
For example, land a free spin that contains fish with £5 and £10 attached but no wild and you’ll win nothing. Land those same fish symbol with 1 Fisherman Wild and you’ll win a £15 bonus. If there are 2 Fisherman Wilds on that free spin with the £5 and £10 fish, they each collect the prizes for a £30 payout.
Each time a Fisherman Wild lands, it is collected in a meter. Each time you collect 4 wilds, it delivers a retrigger and another round of 10 free spins is added to your total. Retriggers also bring multipliers into the mix. The first retrigger awards a 2x multiplier with 3x and 10x multipliers on offer if you manage to land 3 and 4 retriggers. There is also a total of free spins up for grabs.
Big Bass Bonanza Slot Verdict
The Big Bass Bonanza slot sticks to the usual recipe of simple design and straightforward gameplay. It all comes together very nicely. Visually, it’s no thing of beauty but the cartoon imagery does the job perfectly well. As does the rather jolly backing track. It’s all rather laid back. Like a day spent on the riverbank in fact.
There’s only 1 bonus feature available here but it’s a good one. Collecting the cash values attached to the fish symbols can really liven up the action, especially if you manage a re-trigger or two and bring the multipliers into play. The better than average RTP of 96.71% is a plus. The max win of 2,100 x bet is a little on the low side.
I enjoyed this angling expedition. You might not land a whopper of a jackpot but it’s a slot that delivers some relaxed and entertaining action. That said, it’s a very popular Pragmatic Play slot with many online casinos using this game in particular for their free spins offers.

Other Big Bass Series Slots
The Big Bass series has proved extremely popular with online slot players. The games usually follow a similar formula of rather basic design and simple gameplay. There are a few variations that are certainly worth investigating though.
Big Bass Day at the Races transports players to the horse racing while Big Bass Bonanza Megaways ramps up the action with the innovative shape-shifting mechanic. There are also season Halloween and Christmas versions. I particularly like Big Bass Amazon Xtreme which has better bonus features and 10,000 x bet max wins.
The biggest potential jackpots of 20,000 x bet are on offer from Big Bass Hold & Spinner Megaways which comes with up to 147,456 ways to win and a high RTP rate of 96.7%. Finally, if you’ve enjoyed any game in the series, chances are you like them all.
A slot from Pragmatic Play based on a fishy theme, and is one of Pragmatics most popular slots with a 5 reel, 10 lines, 3-row variety. It comes with a nice low 0.10 per spin minimum and a max of 250.00. This is the slot that started all the big bass games that Pragmatic has continued to create and there are now dozens of them and they will no doubt continue making more of them with different themes.
The slot has the feature free spins game where you need 3 or more scatters and you get which is what this slot is all about really and that requires just 3 scatters to land on the reels, the more you get the more spins you start with though. 3 scatters starts with 10, 4 scatters with 15 spins and 5 scatters with 20 spins. During the free spins feature you need to land the fisherman in order to get more free spins and increase the win multiplier, if the fisherman lands at same time as some fish money symbol then you get those wins as well. It is an addictive type of design of this slot.
The sound, music is once again great from Pragmatic, it has the base game sound effects that have that water sound and the music for the base game, and then the usual pragmatic win sounds, and the feature has it’s own music as well with a more faster beat to it. They do know what they are doing when it comes to sounds and music for their slots no doubt about it.
During my real play I managed to get the 50x win during my second session on the slot.
As for the RTP that is with this slot, it is available on its highest RTP of 96.71% but also on lower RTP such as 94.02%! I played it on the 94.02% a couple of different times. I would still recommend to play it on the higher RTP tho so try find a casino with the highest RTP but sometimes you can only play it at the lower RTP.
The slot can sometimes like many other slots decided to take too many spins to give a bonus feature, and for me so far in real play I haven’t gotten the free spins feature and it has been a few hundred spins at two different sites. I have been playing it on the 94.02% version so that could have something to do with this drought but who really knows as luck also plays a role. With a slot like this you really want to get into the feature game as that is where the big win potential is.
There are plenty of dead spins in the base game so beware of that when playing this game, put it on turbo if you can and just wait for the feature.
The max win potential of this slot is just 2100x which is very much on the low side when it comes to slots these days and Pragmatic makes most of theirs with at least 5000x but for some reason they went with something like a 2100x, although it does have a design of feature frequency of 1 in 113 spins.
