What's interesting about this game? Well, it plays with only 3 reels and 3 rows, with only 5 paylines, like the good old oldie games of yesteryears, so there wouldn't be any confusion at all. There's also a 4th reel, but it's only for the win multipliers, so you can expect to get wins multiplied from 1x up to 15x - not too bad really, except that most wins would get the low 1x up to 3x, with fairly frequent 5x multipliers, but rarely getting the 10x or 15x multipliers. Unfortunately, Aztec Gems is a low to medium volatility game, so the win values for the symbols are very low indeed. If you ask me, I would even rate them as extremely low! Getting 3 Wilds on 3 reels, for example, pays only 5x the total bet, and the maximum possible single win would be 15x of that, or 75x the total bet. If this isn't your jug of beer, or your bottle of wine, then forget about playing Aztec Gems! Hahaha.
Nonetheless, I quite like playing this game, purely for the nice big symbols and very simplistic game play, but I really wish that the paytable could be better! A 200x total bet maximum single win would be just about right for this kind of game, considering that only 5 paylines are in play, and that the 10x and 15x multipliers are never easy to get with the high symbols. Sure, they do appear with the wins, but mostly with the low symbols, paying out low wins, and making you go "WTF!" or just "ummmm..."
As with most of Pragmatic Play games, I only played Aztec Gems on 2 occasions, but when I finally got a decent win with a 15x multiplier, that was the end of my play - thanks but no thanks, I wouldn't want to get disappointed with more plays, hahaha. Okay, maybe when I'm damn low on funds, or when my fingers are damn itchy to play a game, then I may come back and give Aztec Gems one or two more sessions, but that would be about it. For me, there's nothing better than playing on games that offer many free spins with at least 3x multiplier, and my favourite games are all of this kind.
