Here's another category of games that I have yet to like from Microgaming - war games - simply because none of these games have given me any good wins so far. Girls With Guns would seem the most likely games to offer good wins, but they haven't been good for me either, Just not my luck probably, who knows. This Reel Baron game is a cartoon version of a war game, reminding me of The Red Baron TV cartoon series and also of earlier arcade games of the same name. Not surprising though, because The Red Baron was a very notable fighter pilot back in those early 20th Century times. But there's no Red Baron here, just a Reel Baron. So, can this fighter Reel Baron be as notable and good as the Red Baron? Hmm!
The 'Reel Baron' is the Wild symbol, 5 of which pays 2000x the line bet, substitutes for other symbols except for the Scatter symbol, but does nothing else. Yep, this Reel Baron isn't as smart as the Red Baron, because this Baron is dumb! The Compass is the Scatter symbol, 5 of which pays 100x the total bet amount, and getting 3 or more of them triggers 10 free spins with increasing multiplier of up to 10x. Doesn't sound that good to me. The Free Spins game cannot be retriggered. Argh! Now that makes it worse! The Airplanes pay from 1500x to 600x the line bet for 5 of each kind, whilst the lower symbols pay from 500x to 50x the line bet for 5 of each kind. Hmm. I told you this Reel Baron cannot be as good as the Red Baron, and this low paytable says it all.
What is my most biggest dislike in this game? Would you believe waiting 928 spins just to get 1 Free Spins game?! For a game like this Reel Baron to span nearly 1000 spins just to award one lousy paying Free Spins game is totally unacceptable to me! That game paid only 59x my bet amount, yet none other Free Spins games could pay any higher than that! I could accept this if coming from a game of very high variance, but Reel Baron is nothing more than a medium variance game, so such spans of no-feature-game is rather ridiculous! The Reel Baron just got shot down by the Red Baron, as expected.
