I suppose there are times for everyone when the main stream and very popular Progressive Jackpot or ‘action rich’ products are not our primary targets and we don’t mind if we play a little with an attractive and cute slot game. Berry Blast is exactly that game which has a very nice appearance and I find its main strength that even though it has a droll, joyful atmosphere but it doesn’t become infantile or childish. The graphics are not the best but I like how this slot looks like and find the symbols and background very suitable and it’s especially true for the card letter figures which got a very proper and also humorous illustration. It’s not a hard task to figure out what the used main symbols can be, so you can’t go wrong with the idea that this is a fruit game with all kind of fruits (some of them are very cute) and in my opinion the rightly chosen colours and the nice background image just increase the overall pictorial experience. All in all, I like very much this pleasant appearance but sadly, looking further (at game segment) we can’t really find anything that can match this well-done job.
Even though the maximum amount that can be won by a line win (10.000 coins) is not bad but all other features are not exactly what I like to see at a slot. For example the Wild symbol only has replacing function in a winning combination without multiplying its value. The Scatters can’t reward us more than 50 times of total bet which is not too great but at least there are two Scatters and they also pay if they appear on the reels in ‘mixed’ format. My biggest issue with the game comes with the features. The Free Spins feature (if it can be named that at all, it is more of a re-spin feature) consists of only 3 spins if the special triggering symbols appear on the first and the fifth reels at the same time. I can’t understand what the creators thought when assigned this rule and why it can’t be at least 8-10 spins. It can’t really help at this ridiculous number of spins that all wins there are counted by x3 multiplier. Basically, they took away the chance to have a great feature success and that’s really influence badly the overall gaming experience.
The slot has a multi-level bonus game which is triggered if 3 Blueberry symbols arrive to the 1-3 reels on an active payline, then we’re carried on to a secondary screen and the first stage, named Orange round is played. There are 4 Berries from which we must choose 2 and Orange slice with 12 segments. We have to spin the Orange and its every section contains a bonus credits and one section a Lemon pictogram. When the spin is stopped we can win bonus credit or if the Lemon icon is beside a Berry we can move on to the second (Lemon round) and if it happens again to the final stage (Grapefruit round). Unfortunately, this is a bad paying side game and it must be a miracle to get through the first round.
All I really like at this game ends with its appearance and the game segment itself is not a well-made one. The payouts are almost always poor and the win occurring capability of the game is also a weakness of the game. I can’t consider a weakness that the game is not a real exciting one because it would be very hard to make a fruit game very electrifying but sadly it also can’t entertain me for long time and that’s why my sessions here won’t be more than 10-15 mins. I think something more something better could have been brought out of this game because the way it is now Berry Blast is nothing more than a nice, cute slot with not so good operating principle.
