Back in April, we launched a Player Preference Survey dedicated to Slot Games in cooperation with SBC’s annual CasinoBeats Summit and the results are finally here! The response was amazing, to say the least, with as many as 4,501 of you taking the survey and sharing your insights and perceptions about slot games! Wow!
Thanks to such a response, we learned a great deal about your slot preferences, so without further ado, let’s see what you had to say about online slots! Oh, and - don't miss our Slot Preference Survey Results video!
The Mid Roller Domination!
Some of the results may surprise you as they did us! For instance, one of the first things we were interested in was to hear how you would describe your betting practices in terms of bet size.
What we learned is that the majority of our players, 53.6% to be precise, consider themselves a mid roller, followed by 30.9% of you who like to keep it on the safe side and describe themselves as low rollers. Finally, 15.6% of respondents said they like to bet big and described themselves as high rollers!
More than half of respondents said they consider themselves to be mid rollers, with high rollers accounting only for 15.6% of players!
Accordingly, the majority of players (46.9%) said they enjoy high variance slots, followed by medium variance and super high variance aficionados, 37.1% and 12.7%, respectively.
The situation was similar when it comes to buy-in features usage: 58.3% of respondents said they sometimes use the feature, followed by 24.5% of you who never use it, and 17.2% who never miss a chance to trigger the buy-in bonus feature.
Furthermore, when it comes to the maximum payout of a slot game, 51.8% of you said that it doesn’t affect the decision to try a game, whereas 48.2% of respondents said they were interested in these statistics before giving the game a spin.
New Release or a Popular Title? Why Not Both!
When it comes to slot titles you are most likely to choose, most of you, 55.7%, said they like to mix fresh releases and already popular titles, while 30.4% of you stick to well-established titles, and 13.9% of players prefer exploring new releases on a regular basis.
55.7% of respondents said they like to mix new releases with smash-hit titles, while as many as 69.8% claimed they never play slots in demo mode.
Overall, our players seem to skip playing in demo mode, with 69.8% of you saying that you tend to play only for real, compared to 30.2% of you who like to try out the game in fun mode first.
Our players were also divided when it comes to the reputation of slot providers, with virtually half of you saying that you do care about the supplier’s image, while the other half said they don’t pay so much attention to game developers. The situation was similar when it comes to preference regarding the number of features, with approximately half of you saying that they don’t mind if the game isn’t feature-packed.
Mobile as Preferred Platform
This result was, perhaps the least surprising: out of 4,501 respondents, 4,036 said they prefer to play slots on smartphones, followed by desktop users (864) and tablet and land-based users, 356 and 105, respectively.
Survey respondents overwhelmingly use mobile as their platform of choice, with 90% of players spinning slots on smartphones!
30.6% of you said they never play any other game other than slots, while those who do, said they mostly engage in live casino (34.8%), lottery, poker, and bingo (23.4% and 20.3% respectively), with sports betting coming in last (17.2%).
