The Funky 70's is a video slot running on the NetEnt software platform. The game is designed to fit the unmistakable style of the 1970’s with symbols featuring a disco ball, early computers and platform shoes. The slot’s wild card is the 70’s Wild symbol, which can create a wild stack, and the scatter is the Disco Lady icon. Players can try the slot on this page free of charge or choose any of the featured NetEnt casinos in order to play the game for real money.
Prior to travelling back to the funky 1970’s, one needs to adjust their bet first. Players should press “Bet Level” in order to adjust the betting level and “Bet Lines” will modify the number of paylines played. “Coin Value” alters the coin size ranging from 0.01 to 0.5.
In order to start the game, one should click “Spin”, whereas “Max Bet” should be pushed in order to turn the reels at the highest available wager. Clicking the “Auto” button will play the game automatically for a preset number of times without any interruption.
When 3 scatters emerge on reels 2, 3 and 4, 5 Free Spins are awarded. The Free Spin wins pay double. During the Free Spin feature, 3 scatter icons pay total bet times 2 and award 5 additional Free Spins.
A jackpot of 1,000 coins will be won once 5 wild symbols have occurred on an enabled payline.

What has the groovy sixties, the funky seventies and the super eighties have in common, besides being an era in their own time? Any guesses? Yes, no? Well, let me give you the answer then. All three share one identical game concept and design, and all three share one identical paytable too - like no other NetEnt game does. That's creating 3 games in one go - one original, the other two clones. But even Siamese twins are not 100% identical, so these three games are not either - each one has been configured slightly differently, to provide slight variations in each game's play and payouts, so one game may play and pay better than the other two.
I have played all three games, over a few thousand spins on each game, compared their payouts, and found out that each game did indeed played and paid differently! But of course, those findings were not exhaustive, so they can only be indicative. Interestingly enough though, either by mere coincidence, or by purposeful design, the Groovy Sixties game played and paid the worse, followed by The Funky Seventies, then The Super Eighties. However, where I am concerned, none of the three games played or paid well enough to stand out from the crowd, thereby remaining only as mediocre games in my book.
The truth is, nothing in the three games can be regarded as good. The paytable is very low - getting 5 Wilds would pay only 1000x the line bet, getting 3 Scatters would pay only 2x the total bet, and the other symbols would pay from 400x down to 100x the line bet for any 5-of-a-kind win. Hardly interesting at all! Moreover, the Free Spins game offer only 5 free spins with a 2x multiplier, but more free spins can be retriggered, if that's any good at all, because it certainly didn't do anything good for me.
With its rather low graphics quality, its small payouts, and the actual game play itself, all I can say is that this game lacks the necessary 'oomph' to keep my interest going for longer periods of play. Big wins hunters, on the other hand, would only be disappointed with this game.
