Exploring in the portfolio of games of “High 5 Games” I ran into an attractive slot of 5 x 3 reels and 20 paylines called “Hoot Loot.” At first glance, this slot looked pretty funny because their characters were like those usually shown on cartoons and I thought maybe this would be a good choice to have some fun.
Once I started to spin the reels I realized that payouts generated in the formation of regular lines during the base game were generally quite tight, however, lines formed in the box located at the bottom of the reels, which corresponds to the “Hoot Line” feature, were much better paid, in fact the total payout for each line made inside this box is the one provided on the paytable multiplied by 22x; however, to form a line of 3 or more of a kind is much more difficult because in this area of the game they only appear symbols that are marked with the face of the owl above on any of the 5 reels.
What I observed is that the “Hoot Line” feature does not seem to be efficient enough to compensate usual small payouts obtained by forming regular lines on the 5 reels.
“Hoot Loot” also has a bonus feature of “pick me” type called “Hoo's Safe Bonus” during which my best prize was 18x my total bet. This is the feature triggered by getting 3 scatters that only appear on reels 1, 3, and 5, and it seldom happens from my view.
In my opinion, I think that this pair of features may look interesting, but to be frank, I think that these features are not so powerful to compete against the poor cash flow it shows this slot during the base game.
No matters how fun they may look its characters, the fact of having a permanent declining balance it causes you don’t enjoy much the game, and you might even regard it as a very boring game, and I think that's what happened to me once the feeling of frustration came over me. Ultimately, I think “Hoot Loot” proved to be another average slot.
