Some weeks ago, King Billy Casino sent me an email and mentioned how one player had won big on the game Rome: Caesar’s Glory. That made me go “what?” That’s because I like Roman-themed games, but I don’t know that game. Then I saw it’s by Playson. Another “what?” That’s because I was already hating Playson, after a few horrible plays on their games. So, between the like and the hate, I closed one eye and decided to give Caesar’s Glory a try. Any regrets? Hmm, not really, but I won’t go back to play it either, hahaha.
You may be asking why? Or maybe not. Doesn’t matter. Firstly, Caesar’s Glory plays with a game format that I have never liked! It has 6 reels and a decreasing number of rows, from 7 down to just 2 rows. It plays with 64 lines, starts with a 20 cents bet per spin, and plays with stacked symbols on all the reels. Still, I don’t like it. Why? Caesar is the Wild symbol but pays a horrible 15x for a 6-of-a-kind win. For a 5-of-a-kind win, that’s already damn low, but for a 6 symbols win, that’s extremely low! Not only that, the Scatters are non-paying as well, so extra winning chances are also omitted, and getting 3, 4 or 5 Scatters would award only 8, 12 or 16 free spins, with no win multipliers at all too! That is simply “argh!”. Okay, so retriggers are possible, but that doesn’t make the free spins feature game any better.
Retriggers are activated by getting 3 or more Scatter symbols during the free spins play, that’s the usual way, or by collecting 275 full Wild reels during both base game and free spins play. What? 275 Wild reels? Yep, that’s one helluva lot of Wild reels to collect, so don’t ever expect to get that triggered easily! However, during the free spins, each appearing Wild symbol would expand into a full Wild reel, so that helps a little bit in the collection process. Nonetheless, do expect some long waits to get all those 275 Wild reels collected!
To make the wins come easier, that’s what the paytable says anyway, the reels are flipped over for the free spins play, starting with the 7 rows on the left, and the 2 rows on the right. Yes, it is easier to get the smaller 3-of-a-kind wins than if playing with just 2 starting rows, but getting any bigger wins is a matter of luck and the mood of the game. Nah, my luck was not good on that day, as if the game knew that I don’t like it, or that I don’t like Playson either. Anyhow, it won’t change my impression or opinion on this game, or on Playson as a game provider, and I certainly won’t be going back to play any of their games either, except to try out one of their newly released games for reviewing sake.
