Ah, these fruit games certainly have come a long way from the original fruit machine games, and playing better than ever. Those free spins certainly make a big difference from the original game which hasn't got it, plus, there's also a special 'Respin' feature added in to make the game more interesting and with more winning chances. Needless to say, there's also a lot of losing chances too.

There is no Wild symbol in this game, but there is a Bonus Scatter symbol, 5 of which pays the usual 100x total bet amount. Getting 2 of these Bonus Scatters anywhere on the reels award 10 free spins, and getting 3, 4 or 5 of them awards 15, 20 or 25 free spins, with all wins doubled, and more free spins can be retriggered. You certainly cannot find these features in the original fruit machine games, I can tell you that. The '$' symbol is the highest paying symbol, 5 of which pays 10,000x the line bet, which is very good. The Red '7' pays 500x, the Blue '7' pays 500x, the Grey '7' pays 250x and a combination of any '7' pays 100x, all per line bet for 5 of each kind. The other Bar and Fruit symbols pay from 250x to 75x, including a mixed combination of Bars paying 75x too, all per line bet for 5 of each kind. Pity there aren't any Wild symbols in the game, otherwise the paytable could be a good one instead of just being an average one. Ah well, we can't have it all, can we? These game designers would certainly cut whichever corners they can in order not to over-provide in the paytable.

The 'Respin' feature allows any individual reel to be respun, at an additional cost of course, to try and get a better or bigger current win. This Respin feature may look good at first glance, but requires extreme care and caution in using it. Continuous reckless use of it would drain out any credit balance amount! Each respin can cost anywhere from $0.01 to well over $3000, but the outcome of each respin does not guarantee a win. I hardly use this feature at all in any of my game plays, because I have seen how it could gobble up the credits with ease.

Nonetheless, playing Retro Reels can be good and fun, especially when the Free Spins game have been triggered, because the retriggering of more free spins within the Free Spins game is indeed possible. I once had 2 retriggers of 10 more free spins each time, giving me a total of 30 free spins, but the final total payout wasn't that good at all. Couldn't even break the 40x total bet amount, and that was really disappointing, to say the least.

There are only 2 things that I don't quite like with this Retro Reels game. One, there isn't any Wild symbol. Two, most of the payouts tend to be low or mediocre, hardly ever going above 30x the total bet amount. As a result, it becomes rather hard to win on this game, even by a small amount.

The third time I triggered the bonus round the game went crazy. I got extra free spins, so this time I got 45 free spins and a win of 67.50. This was a great win because my balance was going down during the base game. Couple of spins later I triggered free spins round again. I got 10 free spins and I got 9.60.

When it comes to this game, the wins are not that big. It seems like you can win something during the free spins. During the base game there are no wins at all. The slot offers the re-spin feature too, but it is yet another way to lose your money, because you never get the symbol that you want to. But if you like the old fashioned slots than this might be the game for you, but do not expect to win big.

Retro reels is a slot that I gave a shoot when I was browsing for a new game to play with my little balance left on my account. I didn't think much for this slot at the time but I have to say that this is a classic example of those old school slots that can be quite amusing and sometimes very lucky.

The graphic for this slot isn't quite good which is of course expected and same goes for the music that appears on wins. But still while you play this slot you feel like you are in an actual casino. The slot has the classic fruits, 7s and bars as symbols.

The game also offers some pretty good features like the free spins. You have to hit minimum 2 scatter symbol in order to get 10 FS, 3 scatter symbol give 15 FS, 4 give 20FS and 5 give 25 FS. Don't be fooled when you see that only 2 scatter symbols grant FS since it is absolutely not easy to get them. But luckily there is a solution for that as well if you are keen to go for it. If you manage to hit 1 scatter symbol, you can keep it and re-spin individual reels to get the second one, which can be worthwhile or not depending on how many balance you spend on getting it and how much it will actually give back. I tried this couple of times on the lowest re-spin cost reel and managed to get it this way. But still unfortunately my balance was quickly lost since I didn't have much to start with.

Overall this is a great old school slot that after some amount of time playing it can get pretty tedious but still it is worth trying out. 7/10

The design of the game is very simple and we also haven’t got any reason to be enchanted by the quality of the graphics which is just average but decent so as expected there’s no any surprise on the interface of this product and personally I prefer Microgaming’s PowerSpin series slot games in this category but my opinion about the appearance of this slot is no more no less than a massive OK.

The slot chosen not use the real classic 3-reel, 1-payline working system instead it accepts bets on 20-paylines so we can really expect some features that didn’t belong to the then machines. For example we can play here Free Spins feature which has quite surprising good qualities. It’s enough to trigger free spins if just 2 special Scatters appear anywhere on the reels which gives 10 extra games but we can get 15, 20 or 25 free spins too which are played with using x2 win multiplier value. However great the free spin feature is I still feel the lack of using any kind of Wild symbols which is a big mistake in my opinion and I can’t really understand why Microgaming left out this very important function emblem from this slot. maybe they wanted to place for a unique Re-spin feature. I’m just skeptical about it and don’t believe with re-spins will bring the desired symbol to the right position but I’m just prejudiced with it, I know it.

To summarize my thoughts about this slot I think it’s an overall rock solid product with not too much features but what the game offers are quality features and fortunately the slot has the potential to reward big prizes especially in free spin segments. Retro reels video slot is very old one which made by microgaming, so it is interesting to play this game and to see what games microgaming software offer in past. This game has 25 paylines, and here is presented very rare and actually i not see anything else this feature which have name reel respin. This feature allows to pay some extra money, usually much more less than your total bet, to have this reel respins.

It is can be interesting thing of course, but generally i did not get this idea from microgaming and to be honest did not see any sense in it, and therefore two times i played this game i never use this feature. Interesting thing here that scatters pay 100 x total bet, and i like that 2 scatters award 5 free spins. Not many slots give a chance to play free spins with only two scatters. Also can be triggered 10 15 25 free spins, for 3 4 5 scatters respectively. All wins in free games doubled and this is not so bad. Payouts are a bit low in my opinion, but 5 of a kind best symbol pay x 400 total bet, in free spins it is 800 x total bet, but of course i never get such combination.

Generally from my experience i understand that it is low variance game and it is hard to get some huge wins on it, and therefore i did not see myself playing this game, really. Microgaming these days have much more better and interesting video slots, like immortal romance or thunderstruck II for example.

Retro reels is a game powered by microgaming. Playing this game makes me feel as if i am in a casino. The way it looks and the sound effects are really nice. For some reason i like to play this game in dark, just like in casinos and its very enjoyable. I live in Galway (Ireland) and in out major casino we actually have a game just like this one.I never play it in casinos because there is so much choice and i totally forget about this game, but at home i like to give it a shot once in a while.

There are 20 lines in this game and only one feature. That is the free spins feature, in this game you only need to get two scatters to start free spins. For two scatters you get 10 free spins, for 3-15, for 4-20 and for5-25 free spins. I got the feature many times and the wins are always different. Minimum i won was around €2 and max i won was around €30 on a €0.40 bet. The wins are not big and it is a bit difficult to win big but if you get dollar signs you could win big. Another thing that i like about this game is the re-spins feature. After every spin the game allows you to re-spin any reel that you like- for a prize obviously. I once lost a lot of money re-spinning, so i would not recommend doing it too much.

Over all the graphics are really good and there is feeling of old fashion slots game. i would recommend this game to everyone. If i was to rate this game i would give it 8 out of 10.
