Slot Features
Wild symbol in the game can substitute for all the symbols to help form winning combinations, and it lands only on reels 2 and 4 on the top row. The only symbol it cannot replace is Scatter.
Sticky Wild
Each time you see a Wild land on the top row it will remain in the same spot, sticky, until all the tumbles from your current spin end. Moreover, the Wild will start with a multiplier of x1 in the base game and each tumble will increase it by 1 and up to a max of x128.
Free Spins
Diamond Scatter appears only on reels 1, 3 and 5, and if you want to trigger the feature, you will need to get at least 3 of them on the same spin. Once triggered, you will get 8 spins and you will be guaranteed a Wild symbol to drop in a random position on each spin. Wilds on the top row will remain sticky until the current spin tumbles end, and they will always hit with x2 multiplier. Additional 3 or more Scatters during the feature will award extra 5 spins.
Summary
Candy Stars does not deliver the heat that we’re used from Pragmatic Play’s team, from the aesthetic standpoint, and it gives us the feeling that it is unfinished. Luckily, the feature department looks better, but beyond the sticky Wild Multiplier feature, there is nothing too much going on. Overall, it is a decent slot with x5000 max exposure with high volatility and a varying RTP that goes as high as 96.47% which is good enough. Just don’t expect to see that wow effect or anything innovative but you can take it for a couple of spins.
Candy Stars is a quite new slot from Pragmatic Play that was launched a few months ago. I've been playing Pragmatic Play games quite a bit lately so I was curious to explore this release. Also, I saw that the game was inspired by the space/ candy theme so that spoke to me as well.
Candy Stars slot is a 5 reel slot with 576 ways to win. Also the game has a very vibrant design, inspired by the candy and space theme- there are wild symbols looking like stars, as well as different candies. For low paying symbols you have the regular letter symbols. The overall look of the game is really nice and it reminds me of Starburst in some ways, based on the looks alone.
When it comes to the game's technical aspects, it's a very simple game. Whenever you get a winning combination, the winning symbols cascade and new ones land in their place. Then, if you land a wild symbol which only lands on the top row, it will contribute to the winning combination if there is one, and will remain sticky in the same position until there's no new wins. Also, after every tumble the multiplier increases, so you can potentially get a nice 5 oak combination with a good multiplier. It quite reminds me of Muertos Multiplier Megaways and it definitely adds an interesting element to the base game. And while it's a simple feature, I like it and I've had a few decent 5 oak winning combinations due to the wilds.
Aside from that, there's also a free spins bonus round, triggered by 3 bonus symbols or with a bonus buy option- for that you get 8 free spins. What I like about the bonus round is that you're guaranteed to land one wild on each spin and the wilds start with a 2x multiplier. However, after every win, the wild stays sticky and the multiplier doubles and can go up to 128x. While I haven't managed to get the 128x multiplier, I've had a 5oak combination with a decent multiplier for over a 100x win. But with that being said, the bonus round is very volatile. Yes, you're guaranteed a wild symbol in each spin, but that doesn't mean it will be in a winning combination. Also 8 spins is a bit small amount and in my opinion, you need to get a retrigger (which adds 5 extra spins) and a big multiplier for potentially big wins.
Overall I have a bit of mixed feelings about this game. I really like the simplicity of it, I also like the multipliers and how they increase. The downside is that for me the bonus round feels very volatile- I've had multiple bonus features that pay less than 20x and you definitely need either a retrigger and many consecutive wins to build the multiplier, and hopefully hit a win with it.
