Suntide sounds a bit confusing. I am not sure if there is any relation between sun, tide and fruits. Tide detergent from Procter and Gamble, but they don't have anything in common. I tried to google and I found Suntide famous beach resort on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and this might have been used as inspiration for this slot theme. The thing I don't get is, what this name has in common with the slot theme. I guess only Microgaming people could answer this. This is not an old game but we don't see anything new here.

Players who like classic bar fruit machines should like this one as well. There are also golden bars, diamonds and gold coin symbols. I like the bright colors here and the background scenario too, but as for the symbols, we've gotten used to fruit symbols and they look only average here. This is a 5-reels 9-paylines video slot, playable from as low as 0.09 cents bet per spin. When I gave it a try, my bet was 0.27 cents. The only wins I made during my session came from combinations with the Expanding Wild on the third reel, and I also had several five of a kind win of oranges, which paid around 3 Euros.

There is only a single Bonus feature game here, the Free Spins feature game, and it is triggered when you collect 3 sunset Scatter symbols on any active payline for you to enjoy 15 fruity free spins award. During main game wild can expand only on reel 3, but into free spins you can get three wild reels – on reels 2, 3 and 4. I think this game has some potential on big winnings during free spins just because of those wilds.

When wilds appears into main game the payout is good. Well most of the time is good, sometimes you will get small winnings just because the paytable isn't so great as into some other 9 paylines video slots. While I was playing it I had a few wins around 7-10€ from main game and my bet was 0.45€.

At free spins I did not have any luck at all. I triggered free spins feature twice, I got 15 free spins; but most of my free spins were empty spins. I won only around 5€ from them, I do not think this is great. I never had any expanded wilds during feature, so yeah I was really dissapointed because this feature could provide some big winnings.

Otherwise SunTide is nice designed game, maybe i will play it again sometimes in future when I will have small balance. I like that minimum bet is set to just 0.09€, so you can play it with smaller balance. I will rate it with 7 out of 10 possible stars here, at AskGamblers.

One of MG's new game releases in 2016 is SunTide, but what does the sun, the tide and the fruits have in common? Nothing! So why did MG named this game SunTide? Hmm, I guess their minds went blank, just as in creating new games! Nothing new from Microgaming is actually new at all! It's all either a clone, a similar duplicate, or using one of their older game base design and creating 'new' games. Gees! Whilst other game providers are all moving forward, MG is actually moving backwards! Maybe they should seriously appoint me as their Game Advisor and see how I can change everything about MG's games! Hahaha.

Back in the good old days of the 80s and the 90s of the 20th Century, yep, in the last Century, when online casinos haven't even existed yet, every game available then was almost totally only about fruits! Hence the golden name 'fruit machines'. The games then were purely on fruits, then followed by games with a mixture of fruits and other items, like bells and 7s. Does that ring a bell for you? It sure should! Because this SunTide game is just like that...with fruits, bells, bars and 7s. Makes me feel like I'm playing games back in the 80s and 90s! Sheesh! But, there is a difference, of course. There are now scatters to trigger free spins games and Wilds to substitute symbols to create more wins. Well, that's 30 years of gaming design progress for Microgaming! Hahaha.

But seriously now, SunTide, the coin, is the Wild symbol. 5 Wilds pay 1,111x the total bet, can expand fully only on reel 3 in the base game, but on reels 2, 3 and 4 in the Free Spins game. 5 Scatters, the sunset, pays 100x the total bet and award 15 free spins without any win multiplier. Aargh! More free spins can be retriggered, yeah, right! The other symbols have low win values, from 111x for the Diamonds, 83x for the 7s, 44x for the Bells and 27x for the BAR, all in total bet amounts. The fruits are oranges, watermelons, lemons, strawberries and cherries, in descending order of win values.

Okay, so are all that sufficient for nice big wins? Nope! Not even with those 3 full Expanded Wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4, because there aren't any win multiplier, and there are only 9 paylines, so how to win big? At best, you can get only 3 paylines of 5 Wilds, which would pay 3,333x your total bet, but getting 5 Wilds in a Microgaming game? Hmm! 5 Diamonds in that kind of win would only pay a decent 333x the total bet. Get 5 Wilds and 5 Diamonds at the same time? Are you awake? Hahaha.

Retro games are not really my favourites, unless they offer very good win possibilities, like in Fruit Zen of SoftBet, for example. Hoping to get 5 self-paying Wilds would be like winning a lottery. So, even though SunTide may show in the paytable that 5 Wilds is possible, I really doubt it, until I can see somebody gets it!

This month Microgaming has released two new games and Suntide is one of them. I wasn't very excited about this realese because most of Microgaming's releases lack uniqueness and look too similar to one another, also because I saw a promo video for this game and knew it would be 9 payline slot and other than Dead or Alive slot, I am not a fan for 9 liners.

First time I played this game was when I had about 2€ balance left, after a bad session with Immortal Romance. I played with minimum bets and got a couple of 5x bet winnings but ran out of credits really soon. When I played the game, I liked it more than I was expecting it to be, so later I made a 30€ deposit and spent a long session with it.

The game has 9 paylines and and a free spins bonus round, but the most important feature is the expanding wild symbols. In base game they expand only on reel three, but in free games in the middle reels. The feature looks nice and can help to get 5oak winnings. That being said, I don't think this game has a good winning potential. I played over 1000 spins on it with minimum bets and not even once I hit a bigger win than 40x bet. The free spins were disappointing too, because you get 15 free spins and other than the expanding wilds, there are no multipliers. Most of the time I had like 0.03€ winnings per spin, so even though the free spins came up often, they usually paid 20x bet.

Overall I think that this is an average game from Microgaming that I most likely won't be playing again. I prefer slots with more paylines and my experience with Suntide slot showed me that you need lots of luck to get a good win. I think this is a good option for wagering as most of my session my balance was steady and at the end I lost only few euros. I rate this game with 6/10 because the design and graphics are good, but the payouts weren't pleasing, as in base game I couldn't get higher than 15x bet win and on free games 40x.

Suntide video slot is nothing special. They have used bright colors when they created this game probably they thought that this way they will cheer up its players, but I would say that they will cheer me up if I win something. I started playing this game when I had around 300 euros on my balance and in 100 spins I had 250 left. By the way, I was playing on a 0.90 bet. During the game the wild expands on the third reel, but the most that I have won was only 6 euros. This is not something to brag about, since the wild appears quite often on the third reel but the payout is almost nothing.

This might be a good game for people who appreciate an old fashioned game but it is definitely not my cup of tea. There is no excitement during the base game and the payouts are really low. I usually do not expect a lot when I play a game for the first time but I do not also want to lose everything either.
