Looking at the paytable confirms why the payouts from Haunted Opera are so bad and so low. The Wild symbol, the Mask, doesn’t pay for itself but doubles all wins with it. The Scatter symbol, the Letter, pays only 100 x the total bet for 5 of them, while the highest paying symbol, the Scripts, pays 5000 x the line bet. Disappointing values. 2 stars down.
Yet again, there is only the free spins feature game to aim for in Haunted Opera, needing the Letter on reel 1 and the Mask on reel 5, awarding a miserable 5 free spins! However, during the free spins, the Phantom symbol will appear randomly on the reels, awarding 1, 2 or 3 more free spins for each of its symbol. A few of these will appear randomly, making the total to at least 10 free spins. Still, very poor by any standard. 2 stars down.
The first hour of playing Haunted Opera was really haunting for me! Spins after spins of nothingness– no free spins game, getting only small wins that were less than my bet amount, which were actually losses, and my credits were literally going down the drain! That scared the wits out of me! I was almost out of credits, playing at minimum bets all the time, when I finally got my first free spins game, but the 5 free spins didn’t bring any excitement to me as it was so little. Then the Phantom icon started appearing from behind the symbols, awarding more free spins, making me a little at ease. At the end of the free spins game, I had gotten about 18 free spins or so, with a payout of around 50 x my total bet. Not a lot, but it boosted up my balance again for more play. The next free spins came not too far away, but paid a miserable 12 x total bet win. There were a few more free spins after that but were all disappointing, paying out less than 10 x my bet amount each time. Well, Haunted Opera managed to scare me. Perhaps it will scare others too. To me personally, Haunted Opera is one lousy game from RTG. 2 stars down.
