Summary
The Wild Machine is a highly volatile slot with 96.52% RTP rate that proves to be pretty entertaining when it comes to special features department. Looking at the things overall, the game ticks a couple of the right boxes and we liked it. The maximum payout is capped at x7000 which is more than decent to be sure. Thanks to the fast pace and a lot of action, this slot definitely deserves a few spins.
The Wild Machine is a slot game from Pragmatic Play that was released over a year ago. I was quite curious to try it out as it seemed to have some unique features, which these days can be quite refreshing. However, after spending several sessions with this game, I'm definitely not impressed.
The game itself is inspired by the science theme and you get to explore the world of a mad scientist and his wild machine. Design wise I think Pragmatic Play has done a nice job and the game stands out from their regular games. I also think it has something to do with the reel setup- instead of regular 5 reels, the game has a different reel set, which almost reminds me of Dazzle Me slot in a way.
In terms of the bonus features, the game has a base game feature and a bonus round. In the base game at any moment the scientist can turn the first reel into a wild as well as add wild reels to the screen. From my experience, that's pretty much the only time when you can get a good base game win. I've had a few wins over 100x bet on the base game only due to the wild feature. Aside from that, it's not easy to get any decent base game hits.
Then there's also a bonus round, which in my opinion can be quite frustrating, and let me tell you why. The scatter symbols can land only on middle reels and once you get them, you get to spin the bonus wheel. And while there's free spins on the wheel, all the rest are small cash prizes. And in my experience the most common prize you get is cash prizes equivalent to 10x-30x bet. I find it frustrating since when you land the scatters, you can't really get too excited as it's very possible that you'll only get a tiny win instead of the free spins.
Then if you are lucky enough to get the free spins on the bonus wheel, you get to choose from 2 options- Gold Spins and Diamond Spins. Gold Spins give you 8 spins with sticky wilds and Diamond spins give you 5 spins with wild reels and a wild on reel 1. I've tried them both and I definitely enjoy the Diamond spins more- the feature is more volatile and you only get 5 free spins but I've had a few wins around 200x bet from this feature, while the other free spins feature usually returns around 50x bet.
Overall I'm not a fan of this game simply due to the fact that it seems very difficult to get good wins on it. I do like the fact that it has unique looks and the wild feature in the base game makes it more entertaining. But for me, the fact that there's mostly small cash prizes on the bonus wheel makes the bonus feature less appealing. Over time this game has landed in my "not to play" slots list.
