Rainbow Riches has become something of a classic here in the United Kingdom, you will find this game available in various forms at every land based casino throughout the country as well as being offered on the Fixed Odds Betting Terminals found in thousands of bookmakers betting shops on every high street in every town and city.
Whilst it is not the most exciting game around, it definitely has a certain charm which has led to many different versions and variations being created to keep people interested in continuing to play the game despite its original incarnation being many years old now.
With "Pick 'n' Mix", Barcrest have attempted to bundle the best features from the whole range of Rainbow Riches games into a single, all-encompassing super slot, and from my point of view they have really done it quite well!
When you start the game you are presented with an options screen allowing you to choose your favourite bonus features from all of the previous Rainbow Riches games including pots of gold, the road to riches, the toadstool bonus round and several more. You can choose between one and three features to be included on the reels, interestingly though the number of bonus symbols on the reels remains constant regardless of how many you choose, so if you only want to play for a pots win you can select that bonus only and have a much greater chance of hitting that feature.
I really like this aspect of the game because so often when I play a game with multiple features I will end up with a screen full of bonus or scatter symbols all for different features, blocking regular line wins yet not being worth anything because despite having five bonus symbols on screen, I do not have three of any one particular symbol.
In the original rainbow riches you would have both the leprechauns and pots bonus symbols on the reels, whereas playing this game it is possible to opt for just one of these bonuses occuring more regularly instead, which I definitely prefer.
With the pick'n'mix gimmick aside though, there really isn't much new to see in this game. The graphics will be instantly familiar to those who have played Rainbow Riches in the past as will the sound, and it is still a low variance game with little in the way of large wins possible. The on-line version is definiely much better than the FOBT version, but I still find it difficult to really understand how this game managed to gain the cult status it has. As far as Barcrest games go its probably one of the best, but my opinion is that they still have a lot to learn when it comes to creating truly compelling and innovative games for the on-line marketplace.

This has to be one of my favourite slots as you can select your bonuses your self.
Only thing to dislike is I've never managed to win more than a few quid :-(
