Fortunes of Sparta is a video slot with 5 reels and 20 pay-lines powered by Blueprint Gaming software provider. The slot is inspired with the great Sparta and her warriors. Amazing graphics and even better soundtrack that will keep you spinning the reels. Give this slot a free spin here or visit Blueprint Gaming to play for real money.
Before you pick up the sword and start fighting, you should set your betting range. When you click on "Total Bet" you will set coins size which ranges from 0.25 to 15. "Spin" will turn the reels at the chosen bet. "Autoplay" is used to turn the reels automatically without interruption for a chosen number of times.
Greek Temple is the Wild symbol and it substitutes for all other symbols in the game except for the Bonus. Wild can form winning combos both when it substitutes in a win and on its own when you land 3 or more of them on an active pay-line.
Bonus symbol will award you with free spins if you land 3 or more of them anywhere on the reels. You can win up to 100 spins because once the reels start spinning, any bonus symbol that appears on the reels will re-spin them and the Bonus will be held in position. During Spartan Spins, the Spartan Streak is fixed on the central reel.
If you land Spartan Streak symbol on the central reel you will be awarded with Spartan streak. The Wild symbol will expand to cover the whole reel and the reels will re-spin while any winning symbol remains locked in position. The reels continue re-spinning until no new line wins are made. When the streak ends, all wins will be evaluated and awarded.

This is one more theme that I actually like playing, although most of such Roman times themed games are rather hard to win on. I’ve played games on gladiators, Romans, Spartans, and whatnots, but none has got into my favourite games list, but whenever I see such a game, I become tempted to give it at least one try. So here I am, trying out this Fortunes Of Sparta game by Blueprint, even though I don’t actually like most games from Blueprint.
My first impressions on this game were quite good. I like the overall presentation, the game has vibrant graphics, and plays in my favourite 5 reels 3 rows format too. What surprised me the most was its minimum starting bet of $0.25 for a 20 lines game, which is very odd indeed. Why that extra 5 cents bet for each spin? That makes no sense at all, except maybe to bring in extra revenue to the game provider.
The win values of the game symbols are yet one more big surprise for me. Getting 5 Wild symbols would pay a whopping 100,000 coins, or 4000x the stake amount, but all the other symbols have miserable win values instead, paying from just 12x down to 4x for getting any 5 of them. For a 20 lines game, these values are extremely low indeed! Yeah sure, getting 5 Wilds would pay a huge win of course, but in real play, anyone would be very lucky enough to get 3 or 4 Wilds in a winning combination. Getting 5 Wilds would actually be like a dream coming true, or simply an impossible mission to do!
However, there are a few good features in the game. Landing a Spartan Streak symbol on reel 3 would trigger Respins of the winning symbol, until no new same symbol lands in a winning combination. This feature also appears in every spin during the free spins feature game play to create more wins. But, without any win multipliers in play, all the wins, both in the base game and free spins, cannot even be big enough to create real excitement. Why the heck aren’t there any multipliers?
The second good thing is that when 3 Bonus symbols land anywhere on the reel, the other symbols would take a respin, similarly as for that Spartan Streak feature. The more Bonus symbols land, the more free spins would be awarded, from 8 free spins up to a maximum of 100 free spins, but that’s where the goodness ends. There can be no retriggers, and I’ve never liked any game that do not provide retriggers of their free spins! There are a very few exceptions of course, but it simply doesn’t apply to this Spartan game.
On the whole, the game looks good but the gameplay and payouts are simply horrible! Those Bonus symbols would take several hundreds of spins to come by, yet the free spins feature games cannot even pay any decent win, almost all the time, and that sucks really bad!
