The ‘Books And Bulls’ is a classic video slot, from Gamomat Software upon 5 Reels/5-10 Selectable Paylines. The action takes place back to the middle of 18th Century, in Spain where calm prevails in the narrow cobbled streets of Seville. However, calmness is about to be disturbed after the wheels have started. Hehe!
On reels, you will see various Spanish symbols, such as: Female Flamenco dancer/Matador/Matador’s Cape/Castanets. Also card royals between A - 10 which are the Lower paying symbols, paying between 1x and 30x bet. The Matador, who acts as a Wild, is the Highest paying symbol. Landing 5 Matadors on a Wild line will reward 250x bet. (Based on 10 Paylines). In addition, the top payout is 5.000x bet.
The slot features 2 symbols for which the game is named after. First off, there’s the Book which acts as a Scatter, awarding 10 Free spins if you land 3 or more Books, anywhere on the reels. Before the round starts a Bonus symbol will be randomly selected that will Expand to cover the reels if it lands. It’s possible to retrigger the Free spins mode.
The second Free spins type, is unlocked by landing 3 or more Bulls. Again, you’ll gain 10 Free spins but this time you Won’t be able to retrigger them during the round. In this mode, any Wilds that appear will become Sticky, helping you land more wins. Both, Bonus symbols also pay for landing 5 of them, up to 200x bet.
In overall, this is a particularly Classic and attractive slot from Gamomat, which is highly recommended.

I have never played much of any games from Gamomat, but I’ve recently started trying them out, and actually quite liking them as well. They are almost similar to Amatic games, concept and gameplay wise, but I really appreciate the minimum starting bet of just 10 cents per spin in most of their games. In some games, like in this Books & Bulls game for example, the playlines can be selected, but only in 5 or 10 lines, but to me, this is still way much better than just having fixed lines.
In Books & Bulls, The bull fighter Torero is the Wild symbol, 5 of him paying a decent 250x the total bet amount, but is actually only half of the usual 500x which other similar games would have it. This is a let-down to me. The Book is of course the Scatter symbol, but is not a Wild symbol as in other games, which is also one more let-down. 5 Books would pay 200x the total bet, whilst the other symbols would pay from 100x down to 10x, but all in all, still a very good paytable and win values.
Getting 3 or more Book symbols would trigger 10 free spins, with the usual expanding scattering symbol play and the possible retriggering of the free spins. On top of this, there is also one more Scatter symbol, the Bull, having the same payout as the Book symbol, triggering a separate 10 free spins feature game, no expanding scattering of symbols, no retriggering of free spins, but having Sticky Torero Wilds instead. So there are actually two separate feature games in Books & Bulls, but I still prefer the expanding scattering symbol game.
It may seem like a good idea to have two free spins feature games within a game, but in actual play, it is not! Why? Simply because landing any two scatter symbols do not pay any win, and landing two of the Book and two of the Bull scatters do not pay any win either! That’s wasting 4 symbols out of the 15, and also wasting many other small win opportunities! It also makes getting any 3 scatters much harder to come by, because one of the other scatter symbol would usually land on the reels to spoil things.
After a while of playing Books & Bulls, I then realised this short-coming and decided to end my play as soon as I finally got one 124x winning from the standard 10 free spins expanding scattering game. I did get one of the Bulls game, but the payout was simply horrible, giving only a 10x win. Nope, I would rather skip playing Books & Bulls and play the other standard versions instead.
