Editor’s View
While there were some aspects of Betplay I enjoyed, the site has a lot that needs improvement to receive a full recommendation from me. It offers a good selection of sports betting features, with the Event Builder being a particular highlight, and I really enjoyed the prediction markets that were available.
However, the lack of fiat betting options is going to alienate a lot of customers, and the site’s lack of transparency around its payment terms, licensing, and responsible gambling are all red flags. I’ll explore all of this in more detail through this Betplay review.
General Information and Safety Details About Betplay
Betplay is a relatively new online sports betting site that was launched in 2025. The site is owned and operated by Lama Tech, which also operates the online casino Lamabet.
The site is licensed and governed by the laws of Costa Rica. However, this information is not clearly displayed on the footer of the page, which is a red flag for me when considering when to sign up with a new sportsbook.
This license also means that bettors in markets like the UK, Sweden, Germany, and the US can not access the site.
Betplay Payments and Withdrawals
As I have mentioned in my introduction to this Betplay review, the site only accepts cryptocurrencies. For this review, I bet 5 USDC, with this being the minimum amount you can deposit on the site. I’m always happy to see a site that offers deposits and withdrawals for less than €10 or its equivalents.
However, you must wager all your deposits at least once before you can withdraw. While sportsbooks will do this for anti-money-laundering purposes, it can be incredibly frustrating if you are losing and just want to withdraw some of your funds.
The site states that there is a maximum withdrawal amount of 8,000 USDC or equivalent daily. You can contact the customer support team to discuss further limits, with this information not being provided clearly on the site.
Betplay’s Best Offers
The Betplay sign-up offer provides new bettors with a 100% deposit bonus up to 5,000 USDC or the equivalent. Unfortunately, it is only available for casino players.
However, if you do like to dabble in online casinos, I would recommend reading through the terms & conditions, with the wagering requirements sitting at an excessive 80x the bonus amount.
Betting Features Available at Betplay
Overall, I was impressed with the betting features available at Betplay, with the site offering most of the features I would want from a new sports betting site.
- In-play betting: I really enjoyed the in-play betting section at Betplay. The site has a smooth design, and I found the odds to be updated instantly and to be competitive with other crypto sites I have bet at. I was also impressed with the visualisation of events.
- Live streaming: Unsurprisingly, there were next to no live streams available at Betplay, with the site being largely restricted to esports. This has been my experience with most crypto betting sites, with very few of them having the broadcasting rights to popular sports.
- Bet Builder: As someone who is a big Bet Builder fan, I am always happy to see one offered by a site, and Betplay’s Event Builder is one of the better ones you will find on a crypto site. While a lot of bet builders only cover football, Betplay covers a fairly extensive selection, including basketball, esports, and Formula 1. I also found the site to have a good range of markets for each sport, with football including various match and player specials.
Most Popular Sports at Betplay
Football is the most popular sport to bet on at Betplay, with over 600 markets available at the time of writing this Betplay sportsbook review. It is worth noting that this number was slightly lower than you would expect because I was using the site during pre-season in Europe, so 600 markets is actually a solid amount for that time of year.
Outside of this, I was not surprised to find esports dominating much of the Betplay sportsbook. These are always popular on crypto sites, and the operator offers a competitive range to bet on, with good markets for League of Legends, Valorant, and Rainbow Six, as well as virtual football, basketball, and various other sports.
One of the most attractive elements of Betplay is the site’s predictions feature. The operator offers prediction markets on sports like football, as well as on current affairs and events like elections and the Oscars. As an entertainment betting enthusiast, I was happy to see a diverse range of markets covering upcoming films, especially the Marvel and James Bond-related markets.
Betplay Customer Service and User Experience
If you have used a crypto betting site in the past, then you will know exactly what to expect from Betplay. It has a slick, modern design, which I found easy to navigate. The side menus allow you to alternate between the sportsbook and casino sections, while the sportsbook itself has a window-style system.
As part of this Betplay sportsbook review process, I reached out ot the operator’s customer service via its 24/7 live-chat feature. I made a handful of inquiries around the site’s banking terms and conditions and was given very quick responses. While the site does lack transparency on its terms and conditions page, the customer support team were not evasive and answered all of my questions.
The Betplay mobile site is also a good experience, with the overall site design clearly being designed with mobile bettors in mind. Unfortunately, there was no Betplay app available at the time of this review.
Betplay’s Commitment to Responsible Gambling
My biggest issue with Betplay was its lack of a dedicated responsible gambling page. I had to go into the terms page to find any sort of support, and what I found was very basic.
The site offers a handful of links to third-party resources and self-exclusion, which you need to request through its customer support channels, so it is possible that the process can be prolonged.
