World Cup Schedule Breakdown by Stages in the USA, Canada and Mexico

The Group stage will start on Thursday, 11 June 2026, and one of the host nations, Mexico, will play the first match of the tournament at the Mexico City Stadium. The other two host countries will play their initial matches on the next day, Friday, 12 June 2026.

Canada is scheduled to play its first match at the Toronto Stadium, and the US national team at the Los Angeles Stadium.

There will be 16 host cities and stadiums this time around, and to help you follow the football World Cup schedule more easily, we have grouped the phases and venues all the way to the final.

Below is the complete World Cup 2026 match schedule, stage by stage.

World Cup 2026™ Group Stage Schedule

The World Cup 2026 match schedule shows us that the group stage finishes on Saturday, 27 June 2026, after 17 days of football and 72 matches. The 48 participating teams will be divided into 12 groups of four.

The top two teams from each group will qualify directly for the round of 32, and the remaining eight places will be filled by the best third-placed teams from the group stage. The first two days will feature two matches each, the final four days six, and all in between, four matches a day.

World Cup 2026™ Knockout Stage Fixtures

The next phase of the World Cup 2026 schedule is reserved for the knockout stage, starting with the Round of 32. We already know that the top two teams from each group qualify for the knockout stage, alongside the eight best third-placed teams.

All knockout stage fixtures are single-elimination matches, and the winners advance to the next round. If necessary, overtime is played after the regular 90 minutes, and if there is no winner after the additional 30 minutes, a penalty shootout follows.

The semi-finals will be played after a two-day break, on Tuesday, 14 July and Wednesday, 15 July 2026.

World Cup 2026™ Third Place Match Fixture

The bronze medal fixture is scheduled for Saturday, 18 July 2026, one day before the grand final, and it is played at the Miami Stadium.
