Won’t let me close account and refund deposit
I have had an account with Rizk for a couple of years and previously had no issues. Last night I fancied a quick spin so logged on and deposited £15. I immediately tried to play a slot game and was directed to fill out a source of wealth form, I filled out the form and submitted it. I was then asked to provide a bank statement, pictures of my bank card, photo ID and a utility bill. I believe supplying all of this personal information to be extremely exessive and a hugely risky, in a world why identity fraud and breaches of personnel information is commonplace, not to mention the amount of Rizk employees that would have access to enough information to clone my identity, so I refused to do so. I got onto their live chat service and explained that I did not feel comfortable providing this level of information about myself and asked for my account to be closed and my deposit returned. They refused to do so unless I provided these documents. They kept referring me to their terms and conditions which I then read through. The T and Cs do state that they may ask for these documents, but also states that if the customer is unable to provide them or refuses then the account will be closed and balance refunded unless the customer is suspected of fraud or money laundering. I explained this to them but they avoided the issue and refused to help me. I then asked them what evidence they had to suspect me to be guilty of fraud or money laundering, which is effectively what they are accusing me of by refusing to close my account and return my deposit, as clearly laid out in their own T and Cs. They refused to do so. So I am now being held to ransom for my sensitive personal documentation for the sake of £15. I do not care about £15, it is the principle that companies like this think they can behave in this manner and get away with it, it’s disgusting. I also find it to be very convenient that they decided to ask me for this information immediately after letting me make a deposit rather than before, that reeks of foul play.
