I selected a check-by-courier method with Bovada months back. When I finally received the check I took it to multiple banks and also tried to mobile deposit this check. No luck. Banks turned me away. This is something that I have read up on different spaces and people have encountered the same issue.
Recently, they told me to send a photo of the check, voided, so they could help me with another form of payment. Shortly after receiving the check, they said they had double-checked and the check is no longer valid and they will not replace it or make any changes. Incredible.
Throughout this process (months of emails with slow response) they backtracked on their offering to have me utilize a different payment such as crypto.
“ Thanks for contacting Bovada Customer Service.
We hope this email finds you well.
We understand you want to request a stop payment; however, we'd like to know why you are not able to change it. Please remember that once the stop-payment process is finished, checks will no longer be an option for withdrawal for you. Additionally, a $40 stop payment fee will be deducted.
In that case, you need to request a new withdrawal via another payment method.
Stay tuned.”
I’m asking for them to cooperate.
Not only did I tell Bovada the check was not able to be deposited, I laid out in detail on the attempts taken to do so as requested.
Lastly, on two separate instances, outside of the 6 month timeframe you offered the stop payment as an option in order to provide a different payment method. Yes, Bovada itself said it was an option outside of the timeframe on two occasions. As soon as I sent the voided check in for stop payment, the offer to help was rescinded.
Very strange way to do business. This remains unresolved.
During this time, our team provided different options to deposit your check which are all possibilities which would get the check deposited. Ultimately, we did not receive confirmation that the suggestions provided did not work before the expiration date of this check. Due to this we are unable to proceed with a Stop Payment since the check expired.

To make matters worse a representative of Bovada back tracked out of resolving this matter. They presented the option to place a stop payment, well within the 6 month time frame, and be paid out through crypto currency instead. That was taken off the table.
When I reached out a few days ago, a representative told me I needed to get a stop payment placed on the check in order to get it resolved. I was asked to void out the check and send a photo. As soon as I send that it in, I’m told I can’t be helped.
With all that being said, I would like to hear what steps Bovada will take to resolve this.
Please note that all checks issued are valid for 6 months. Within this time, we'd hope that you reach out if you experience any issues during that time. We've reviewed your contact with us during that time and we can confirm that emails were responded on our end in approximately 48 hours.
Unfortunately, we were unable to proceed with a Stop Payment considering the lapse in timeframe.
