Who Will Win the Australian Open 2025 Titles?

The first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open, kicks off this Sunday, 12 January. Melbourne Park is once again the host of the world’s best tennis players in all categories, all competing for the same thing: glory.

A Word on the Records

This year’s tournament is its 113th edition. It was founded in 1905 and has been played on the hardcourt surface of Melbourne Park since 1988. Before that, the Australian Open was another Grand Slam played on the grasscourt, like Wimbledon.

Australia’s Margaret Court is the all-time record holder in the number of women’s singles titles, winning 11 trophies from 1960 to 1973. Serbia’s Novak Djokovic is her counterpart in the male competition, trying to win his 11th title at this year’s tournament.

Brothers Bob and Mike Bryan won six doubles titles at the Australian Open, while Martina Navratilova is the most successful women’s doubles champion with eight titles.

Who Are This Year’s Favourites?

Looking at the odds the bookmakers prepared for the Australian Open 2025, we can see that last year’s men’s winner, Jannik Sinner, is the favourite to repeat his success this January. He is closely followed by Carlos Alcaraz and the record-holder Novak Djokovic.

Speaking of women’s singles, last year’s champion, Aryna Sabalenka, is the favourite to win the title again this year. The second favourite it Coco Gauf, followed by Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina.

Last year’s men’s doubles winners, Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden, no longer compete together, so we can expect different doubles winners this time around. Hsieh Su-wei and Elise Mertens won the women’s doubles in the 2024 edition, and we are yet to see if they will defend the title this year.
