UEFA Club Competitions Recap: Last Week in the Champions, Europa and Conference League

Did you miss any of the UEFA competitions action last week? Don’t worry if you did. We are here to give you a brief recap of what happened at football pitches all around Europe across the three UEFA leagues.

Champions League Recap: How Did the Favourites Fare?

Last week’s Champions League round brought a few surprises for football fans, but were they exactly surprises? Tuesday saw the La Liga and Premier League champions lose their respective matches, with AC Milan beating Real Madrid 3-1 at Santiago Bernabeu, and Sporting needed only six shots on target to beat Man City 4-1.

With AC Milan currently sitting below the top 6 in Serie A, this definitely came as a surprise, but Ruben Amorim was definitely motivated to beat his future arch-rivals before leaving Sporting for Manchester United.

Liverpool dominantly beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-0, and Celtic won 3-1 against RB Leipzig, so Borussia Dortmund was the only German club to get all three points on Tuesday, beating SK Sturm Graz 1-0.

We saw a last-minute victory on Wednesday, with Angel Correa scoring a late goal for Atletico Madrid to beat PSG 2-1. Brest continues its quest for the playoffs with another victory, and so do Inter and Monaco, while Aston Villa dropped points for the first time this season after losing to Club Brugge 1-0.

The only team making it this far without dropping any points is Liverpool, with 12 points at the top of the table, closely followed by Sporting, Monaco, Brest, and Inter, each with 10 points.

The 10-men Tottenham dropped points for the first time this season after losing 3-2 to Galatasaray, and Lyon played 2-2 with Hoffenheim, dropping two more points after losing to Besiktas in the previous round.

FCSB (formerly FC Steaua București) has a big chance of making it directly to the playoffs after beating the Danish side Midtjylland 2-0 and currently sitting in the 8th position with 9 points.
