UEFA Club Competitions Recap: 10-12 December

Another round of UEFA club competitions is behind us, and it brought plenty of excitement all across the continent. Here’s a recap of this week’s Champions League, Europa League and Conference League action.

Champions League Recap: Barcelona’s Big Win for the Second Position

Things have changed on the Champions League table after this week’s action, but not at the very top. Liverpool still remains undefeated after a 1-0 victory over Spanish side Girona and now has 18 points from six games.

Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund had a spectacular clash at the Westfalenstadion, and Hansi Flick’s side won 3-2 after a dramatic second half. Arsenal scored its second victory in a row and is now sitting in third place with 13 points, just like Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa, Inter, Brest and Lille.

With two more rounds to go in the group stage, these are the teams that currently qualify directly for the knockout stage, with some big names staying far behind but still with a chance to qualify through playoffs. These are the complete scores of the Round 6 of the Champions League:

UEFA Europa League Recap: Still Crowded at the Top

Lazio has kept its top position after returning to the winning trail after beating Ajax 3-1 in the Netherlands. Tied for first place is now only Athletic Club after beating Fenerbahçe 2-0 as Eintracht dropped points after losing 3-2 to Lyon.

Manchester United is on a winning streak, having won three matches in a row and climbing its way to the 7th position, with only four points behind the leader. Tottenham is currently in bad shape in the Europa League, scoring only two points from the last three matches. On the other hand, PAOK made it to the playoff zone after winning 5-0 against Ferencváros.

UEFA Conference League Recap: Chelsea Maintains the Perfect Score

Chelsea was once again victorious in this season's Conference League group stage, this time defeating Astana 3-1. Chelsea remains the only club that has already qualified for the knockout stage, with a few more securing their spots in the playoffs or potentially Round of 16.

Both Vitória SC and Fiorentina won their respective matches on Thursday to stay close to the top of the table, the same as Lugano, Shamrock and Cercle Brugge. Legia Warszawa lost 2-1 to Lugano, leading to the two teams now having 12 points each.
