Royal Ascot 2025 Preview: Schedule, Prizes, and Betting

The Ascot racetrack in Berkshire will, once again, host one of the most prestigious horse racing festivals - the Royal Ascot.

Across five days and 35 races, horse racing fans will get to experience the best this sport has to offer. No matter if you’re among 250,000 lucky spectators who managed to nab their tickets or you're following and betting at home, Royal Ascot is what everyone in the horse racing world will talk about this week.

Royal Ascot Race Schedule

Royal Ascot is a five-day event, running from 17 June through 21 June. Each day, there are seven races, with the first one starting at 14:30 and the final race of the day starting at 18:10.

For the people who will attend the festival in person, this will be a whole-day event, with live music and other festivities. Races are divided into several groups and classes, with Group 1 being the highest-ranking one and with the highest prizes. This year’s edition will see a £10 million prize pool!

Day 1 of Royal Ascot will include three Group 1 races:

  • 14:30 The Queen Anne Stakes (G1) £750,000
  • 15:05 The Coventry Stakes (G2) £175,000
  • 15:40 The King’s Stand Stakes (G1) £650,000
  • 16:20 The St James’s Palace Stakes (G1) £650,000
  • 17:00 The Ascot Stakes (Handicap) £110,000
  • 17:35 The Wolferton Stakes (Listed) £120,000
  • 18:10 The Copper Horse Stakes (Handicap) £110,000

Day 2 is when one of the £1 million races will occur:

  • 14:30 The Queen Mary Stakes (G2) £150,000
  • 15:05 The Queen’s Vase (G2) £265,000
  • 15:40 The Duke of Cambridge Stakes (G2) £225,000
  • 16:20 The Prince of Wales’s Stakes (G1) £1,000,000
  • 17:00 The Royal Hunt Cup (Handicap) £175,000
  • 17:35 The Windsor Castle Stakes (Listed) £110,000
  • 18:10 The Kensington Palace Stakes (Handicap) £110,000

Moving on to Day 3, here’s what you can expect:

  • 14:00 The Norfolk Stakes (G2) £150,000
  • 15:05 The King George V Stakes (Handicap) £110,000
  • 15:40 The Ribblesdale Stakes (G2) £250,000
  • 16:15 The Gold Cup (G1) £650,000
  • 17:00 The Britannia Stakes (Handicap) £120,000
  • 17:35 The Hampton Court Stakes (G3) £150,000
  • 18:10 The Buckingham Palace Stakes (Handicap) £110,000

Friday is Day 4 of Royal Ascot with two high-profile races:

  • 14:30 The Albany Stakes (G3) £125,000
  • 15:05 The Commonwealth Cup (G1) £650,000 
  • 15:40 The Duke of Edinburgh Stakes (Handicap) £110,000 
  • 16:20 The Coronation Stakes (G1) £650,000
  • 17:00 The Sandringham Stakes (Handicap) £110,000
  • 17:35 The Kind Edward VII Stakes (G2) £250,000
  • 18:10 The Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes (Handicap) £110,000

The final day of Royal Ascot is, of course, the most exciting one. There’s only one Group 1 race that day, but it will be an absolute spectacle:

  • 14:30 The Chesham Stakes (Listed) £110,000
  • 15:06 The Jersey Stakes (G3) £150,000
  • 15:41 The Hardwicke Stakes (G2) £250,000
  • 16:20 The Platinum Jubilee Stakes (G1) £1,000,000
  • 17:00 The Wokingham Stakes (Handicap) £175,000
  • 17:35 The Golden Gates Stakes (Handicap) £110,000
  • 18:10 The Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions) £110,000

Where to Watch Royal Ascot

If you’re in the UK, you can rest assured that there will be extensive coverage of the festival. BBC Radio 5 will provide live coverage, and BBC Radio Berkshire will dedicate their whole week of programming to the races.

Alternatively, you can stream all the races via ITV - ITV1 will cover the first six races of the day, and the programme will continue over ITV4, including the final race of the day. All of this will be available for free through the ITVX app and website. 

In case you’ve got a subscription to Sky Sports Racing, you’ll also be able to watch streams of Royal Ascot through their app.

Royal Ascot Betting

You won’t need to go to the Ascot racetrack to bet on these races. All you’ll need is a device with an internet connection, and you’re ready to go.
