Via unanimous decision, Jake Paul was crowned victorious in the highly anticipated bout against the boxing legend Mike Tyson this Friday in Arlington, Texas.
YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul beat Mike Tyson after eight rounds at the AT&T Stadium. The three judges had no doubt that the much younger boxer managed to dominate the fight, awarding him scores 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73. With this match, Paul’s track record went to 11-1 in his professional career.
First and foremost Mike Tyson, it’s such an honor. He’s the G.O.A.T. I look up to him, I’m inspired by him, and we wouldn’t be here today without him. This man is an icon and it’s just an honor to be able to fight him.

New vs. Old School
This was a fight for generations, literally and figuratively. The match was held in a jam-packed arena in front of 70,000 spectators and over 60 million people watching it at home via Netflix and other livestreaming channels.
At 58 years of age versus Paul’s 27, Tyson was quite literally a senior citizen fighting the new blood. The age difference between the two boxers became more evident as the fight went on, as Paul kept the pressure on while Tyson, who hadn’t fought professionally for 19 years, couldn’t display his explosiveness and brutality from his heyday.
The retired boxer did manage to land 18 punches, but that was a minuscule number compared to Paul’s 78.
A Livestreamed Disappointment?
To many boxing fans, especially those regularly betting on boxing matches, this match was a letdown. Not just because the Netflix stream was constantly buffering, but how underwhelming it left everyone watching it live.
Evander Holyfield, one of Tyson’s most famous rivals, called the fight “not a good one” commenting how it was evident that Tyson had problems with balance due to his bad knee.
Magic Johnson, the NBA legend, expressed his disappointment over at X (formerly Twitter):
I cut it off because I couldn’t watch anymore. It’s sad to see Mike Tyson like this because I went to every Tyson fight. This fight tonight was not great for boxing.
