Betting Tip: Venezia - Fiorentina
Both teams are approaching this game with utmost importance in mind. It is one of Venezia’s last shots in their struggle for survival, with not many opportunities remaining after this.
Fiorentina, on the other hand, will be coming into this game with added fatigue from the second leg of their Conference League semi-final vs Real Betis. We are expecting a defensive affair, and our pick is Under 2.5 Goals.
- Betting Tip: Under 2.5 goals
- Odds: 1.70 (at the time of writing)
- Stake: 5
Venezia
Venezia deserved more from the 1-1 draw against Torino away in the last round. They were the better side in the first half, scoring with Kike Perez in the 37th minute, following another goal that was eventually disallowed by the VAR (narrowly offside).
They dropped back in the second half and eventually paid for it, conceding through a controversial and rather harsh penalty, again thanks to the VAR (77’). They remain in the bottom three, though they are now just a single point away from 17th place and safety. They’ve lost just twice in their last ten matches, with a 1-7-2 record.
Unfortunately for Venezia, the road ahead is challenging. They will be hosting Fiorentina and Juventus, and facing Cagliari (another team in a relegation battle) away from home.
By far the biggest challenge for Venezia has been scoring goals, something that was not the case at the start of the season. As a consolation, their defensive performance has improved significantly, with 11 of their last 12 games ending with Under 2.5 Goals.
Fiorentina
Fiorentina deserved much more than the 1-0 loss they suffered at the hands of Roma away in the previous round, as they were the better side. Opposing goalkeeper Svilar was insurmountable, especially in the first half, keeping everything out.
Fiorentina conceded at the end of the first half, thanks to a momentary lapse of defensive focus. Manager Raffaele Palladini claimed he was satisfied with his team’s performance, and a bit concerned with the lack of clinical finishing up front. He was adamant that his team would fight to the very end.
They remain in the 8th place, and they’re still in the mix for a ticket leading to European football through the league, even if Milan are in hot pursuit, and the gap from Juventus, Roma, Lazio, and Bologna is growing. They will face the last of these teams in one of their last three, alongside visits to Venezia and Udinese.
