A huge game between two big Premier League sides who have struggled so far this season, and all available points on offer in this one will be priceless, so let’s see what the stats, head-to-head records and everything else have to say ahead of this big one.
Tottenham - Aston Villa Betting Tip
This is one of the more interesting fixtures of the Premier League weekend, but not because it features teams who have any genuine aspirations of winning the title.
Quite the opposite: Tottenham were pretty fortunate to avoid the drop last season while Villa were focusing on the Europa League – which they won in the end- and took their eye off the ball in terms of the Premier League, though they did still finish a respectable fourth in the league, no small feat given the standard of the opposition in England's top division.
Things certainly haven’t gone to plan for either of these two so far this season, with Spurs managing just two draws and two points from four efforts this season and Villa even worse with just one draw and one point from their four games this campaign.
The interesting angle here is that Villa have a very good record in this fixture. The Villains have won in three of their last four visits here to North London and come up against a side who has yet to score in any of their four PL games so far this season, a worrying sign.
So with that in mind, we have to take the view that Villa are underrated here in a fixture they’ve enjoyed over the past few seasons.
With Villa winning three of their last four visits to North London, and Spurs struggling to score goals so far this season, this could easily be heading for 0-0, which would be the third game in a row for Spurs going that way, but we’ll go for the more conservative approach of Villa avoiding defeat, which is a 1,73 shot and will do us just fine.
- Bet: Back Villa to win or Draw
- Odds: 1.73 (at the time of writing)
Match Facts
These two teams played each other three times last season and they all ended 2-1! That was 2-1 win for Spurs in Birmingham in the league, while the reverse fixture in the Premier League was 2-1 Villa, as was the FA Cup match between them.
And a year earlier, Villa won 2-1 in the FA Cup and the year before that, it was 2-1 in the Premier League to Villa as well, so you can see how there’s a history for that result, which this time around is an 11.0 chance.
Spurs have played four in the league and…scored none. They lost 3-0 and 2-0 in their first two games, then drew 0-0 in their next two. They did score at last in midweek against Liverpool, but they still went out of the League Cup, losing 3-1.
