Cagliari

Cagliari are in excellent form, as evidenced by their recent performances and results. Two consecutive wins over teams that will also fight for survival in the Serie A, the second of which came vs Lecce away from home (1-2).

The game did not get off to a good start for Cagliari who conceded in just the 5th minute of the game. After two attempts that hit the post, the response came about 30’ later when veteran striker Andrea Belotti equalised, showing his value for a mid-low table team like Cagliari.

He added the eventual winner in the 72nd minute, converting a penalty, while Cagliari did not let the foot off the gas and could have scored a third goal.

Cagliari had to also deal with a midweek game before the clash with Inter, as they faced Serie B side Frosinone for the Coppa Italia. No new squad problems for manager Fabio Pisacane, apart from the already known injuries to winger Luvumbo and backup goalkeeper Rudnovic.

He will have all his other players available for selection.

Inter

Inter earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sassuolo and returned to their winning ways after two consecutive defeats. Their start to the game was excellent, and Inter took the lead with an excellent effort by Dimarco, capping off a rapid counterattack. The Milanese tried to double their lead but could not convert two more great first-half chances.

After the break, Inter opted to instead manage the game more conservatively. Sassuolo came close to an equaliser twice, but the second Inter goal came in unconventional fashion, thanks to an own goal (81’). Just three minutes later, their defence committed a lapse in concentration and Inter conceded, though they were able to successfully see the game through.

A midweek clash with Slavia Prague awaits Inter for the Champions League, following their visit to Cagliari. No confirmed squad problems for the manager, though there is doubt as to whether captain and top scorer Lautaro Martinez will be able to participate.
