Betting Tip Seattle Sounders - PSG
Following the unexpected defeat to Botafogo, PSG have no margin for error. Winning is the only way forward for the French, and they will be facing the weakest team of the group. They are expected to take care of business, as the Seattle Sounders are not a good defensive team. The latter makes a tip of over 3.5 goals scored look rather appealing.
- Betting tip: Over 3.5 goals
- Odds: 2.05 (at the time of writing)
- Stake: 5
Seattle Sounders
The Sounders fell 3-1 to Atletico Madrid in the second round of the group stage, and now stand with 0 points after two matches in the Club World Cup. That guarantees they won’t be advancing to the knockout stage. Poor starts in both halves hampered them, conceding in the 11th and 47th minutes. They managed to pull one back in the 50th minute but promptly conceded again just 5’ later.
Despite the two losses, the Sounders showed commendable fight in the tournament and can go out with their head way with these performances. They tallied 16 attempts in the game against Atletico, while they did even better in the first game against Botafogo, taking 23 shots on goal.
Clearly, they will try to play their own brand of football irrespective of their opponent, and they will be looking to do just that in the game against PSG, to give their fans something to be proud of as they exit the competition. Still, snapping a four-game losing streak in the month of June would also be a welcome development ahead of their return to MLS competitive games.
PSG
Paris Saint-Germain suffered an unlikely upset in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup, losing 1-0 to Botafogo. PSG held the initiative for the majority of the game but were not able to penetrate the defensive wall raised up by the Brazilians, nor to equalise the goal they conceded in the 34th minute.
Just like that, PSG are still at three points, thanks to the first round dominant 4-0 win against Atletico Madrid, and are now in the 2nd place in the group. Winning is the only option for Luis Enrique’s side in this one, as they will be knocked out of the competition if Atletico Madrid secures a better result than them.
The Parisians will be looking to recover the form they had before the Botafogo game, a form that saw them win six straight games, scoring 21 times in these. Only like that will they have a shot at advancing into the knockout stage.
