Sunderland - Wolves Betting Tip
Sunderland faltered in their latest game but remained a very tough nut to crack, especially at home. Wolves, on the other hand, have been able to rectify some of their many issues and came close to securing their first win of the season, yet the latter still eludes them, as do clinical finishing and defensive discipline.
- Prediction: Sunderland to win
- Odds: 2.48 (at the time of writing)
Sunderland
Sunderland returned empty-handed from Old Trafford, losing 2–0 to Manchester United. The Black Cats paid the price for a poor opening forty minutes, during which they allowed several clear chances and conceded twice, in the 8th and 31st minutes. From then on, they improved, creating opportunities through Xhaka, Ballard, and Mayenda, but couldn’t find a goal to spark a comeback.
The defeat dropped them to ninth and ended their four-game unbeaten run in the Premier League. Still, their overall record so far exceeds expectations. Regis Le Bris’ side has shown notable resilience, built on solid defensive organisation and the outstanding form of goalkeeper Roefs, one of the league’s top shot-stoppers.
Their performance at home is another asset, as they are unbeaten in their first three home games of the season, having allowed visiting sides to create very few chances.
Wolves
Wolves let another win slip away at home, drawing 1–1 with Brighton. They sought to control the tempo from the start and did so effectively, taking the lead in the 21st minute thanks to an own goal by goalkeeper Verbruggen, who failed to stop Munetsi’s powerful shot.
After that, Wolves focused on protecting the lead and even hit the woodwork through Strand Larsen in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, they couldn’t withstand the late pressure and conceded an equaliser in the 86th minute.
Vítor Pereira’s men remain at the bottom of the table, still winless after seven league matches. Yet optimism around the team persists against all odds. Their improved performances in the two games before the break are something to build on, but the challenge now is to handle the psychological pressure, as every match feels like a survival test, and that is something that can weigh on the players.
Their defence has yet to keep a clean sheet.
