Betting Tip: Liverpool - Tottenham
Tottenham have more or less stopped trying in the league. Everyone is laser-focused on the Europa League and the match against Bodø/Glimt. On the other hand, this presents an excellent opportunity for Liverpool to secure and celebrate the title while scoring a significant number of goals. Our pick is Liverpool Win & Over 2.5 goals.
- Betting Tip: Liverpool win & Over 2,5
- Odds: 1.53 (at the time of writing)
- Stake: 3
Liverpool
The team has been inching closer to its final goal, and perhaps this is the moment to finish the job. A draw against Tottenham would be enough to make their 20th Premier League title official, after Arsenal managed only a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
Liverpool may not have been a favourite at the beginning of the season, especially after Klopp’s departure, but the strong start and very decent results in the second half of the season put them at the top early on, and they haven’t left it since.
Teams that have the championship-winning know-how find a way to win games even when they are not performing as well as they can. This is what Liverpool has been able to do in the last couple of months.
This might have prevented them from advancing in other competitions, but in the Premier League, there were no worthy challengers. Now that only league matches remain, the Reds shouldn’t lack motivation against Spurs, especially with the end in sight.
Last week’s clash with Leicester was proof of the current form. Despite dominating the duration game, Liverpool struggled to score. Mohammed Salah has not been as effective lately, and neither has Gakpo, and it was Alexander-Arnold’s shot that decided the winner.
Tottenham
Tottenham are likely to serve an undignified secondary role in Liverpool’s festivities, as their focus is on the Europa League challenges. The Spurs have no ambitions or major goals in the Premier League anymore as they sit in a position where they have nothing to win.
The only way to qualify for the Champions League next season is through the Europa League. Their upcoming clash with Bodø/Glimt is absolutely crucial, and the semi-final will be a decider on whether the season is a complete catastrophe.
Of course, that would be only the second most important aspect, because the Spurs winning their first trophy in 17 years would be the No. 1 news. Therefore, there is little to play for against Liverpool, and Ange Postecoglou is likely to rotate his squad ahead of the next game.
Finally, Spurs are fresh off a disappointing 1-2 home loss at the hands of Nottingham Forest. Conceding twice early on, they were not efficient enough to turn the game around or at least equalise, despite creating many chances.
